I remember asking Siri something on a drive with a family friend who'd just gotten out in 2012, & thinking about how wild that must have felt coming out to smart phones. She'd gone in when everyone had landlines on top of flip phones because service was so expensive & unreliable.

The 3rd, 4th, and 5th Amendments imply a right to privacy, the 9th explicitly states that the Bill of Rights is non-exclusive, and the the 2nd says nothing at all about concealed carry or self-defense, while it hinges on a well-regulated militia. So for starters, that's where.

I highly recommend the Jill Abrams & Jane Mayer Clarence Thomas book from 1992-ish, Strange Justice, written when they were both WSJ reporters to anyone who wants a deep dive.
The way he talks about his mom & sister is horrible. And ALL of his friends recognized his “joke.”

Valued is such a wonderful way to put it. I know that I'm privileged just by the fact that my schools didn't have police or metal detectors, and it's that our neighborhood was valued. As a result, we were, and are, treated with a basic level of respect & dignity many kids aren't.

Even upper & middle income women aren't heard when we say no or are incapacitated.
We do have a lot more options afterwards, from being able to afford morning after pills to having access to abortion. And we likely had better sex ed growing up, and know what's available to us.

It's not uncommon for jails and prisons to have a 2:1 staff to incarcerated people staffing ratio, while teachers are expected to manage a classroom of 30 AND buy their supplies, and nurses get 10 patients in many states. It's infuriating.
