What are you talking about? Stop lying. Eren waited the whole timeskip in his short life trying to find a solution, peace was never an option because the world would never accept that because of how they view Paradis. When he realized that he needed the Rumbling he was destroyed.
So no, Eren was not backed into a corner, and peace was never an option because he actively worked against it. He certainly did not try to do anything peacefully. He never wanted peace to begin with.
