The UK Firearms Act 1920 specifically assumed that anyone who legally owned a firearm could carry it. And no, they do not mean simply "transporting". This was normalised behaviour back in the day, and it was only much later that personal protection was no longer "good reason".
@BloodBrosAriz
Your confidence that you'd get within 1-2 feet away from someone to spray the *side* of their rifle, that the product would have time to set and be effective, and also be able to do all of this unhindered and without negative consequences, is absolutely adorable.
In all seriousness, the lack of stage standardisation is an issue for the Olympics. Oh, and ISSF absolutely hates IPSC and has even trashed them in misleading published articles, so there's that too... 😒
It would be SO much cooler if instead of this goofy and antiquated bullseye shooting, they had an olympic USPSA/IPSC match style event using a common no frills gun like a glock
Early XM16E1, on a (6)02 receiver.
But Y tho?
Because, as the glossary from the Congressional Inquiry tells us, "M16" simply means the version of the AR15 rifle without a forward assist, and "XM16E1"/"M16A1" means the version with it. See also: 1967 USAF M16 training film etc.
Can we please finally put the "you can't buy/own ammunition in Switzerland" Fuddlore to rest, with a stake firmly though its heart? ⚰️
Here's today's regional Anzeiger and some ammo that apparently we can't buy/possess...
You're welcome. 🇨🇭🚅🔫
@DocStrangelove2
If that's Manhattan, and he's carrying open with a baton too, presumably he's private security or police....
She'd touch the pistol then the next thing she'd know would be waking up handcuffed to a hospital bed with a serious headache and concussion... 🤦♀️

The Germans dropped all their equipment (aside from small items on their persons, e.g. pistols) in containers.
The Allies started with this, realised it was a miserable idea, and developed the leg bag so that each paratrooper landed with his full weaponry and other gear.
"Schematic"
Vietnamese militiamen receiving training on AR-15/M16A1. While the American gun is a limited standard weapon, the military still prints manuals for them.
How to "demilitarise" Indonesian M193 for the German civilian market: partially-obliterate the AD 5.56 07 stamp on the case head with a lathe, inkjet print "SM .223 Rem" on the side of the case and re-box as "Sport Cartridges .223 Rem" in case it looks too unsporty🙃
All the timings are in order, and I am now finally starting to do the things necessary for applying for 🇨🇭 citizenship 🫕
German language test booked for 12 October, guess I'd better do a few practice ones just so I know what to expect rather than just rawdogging the thing... 🤔
There was a lot of “but it’s a 4 MOA gun” comments in my
@sigsauerinc
SPEAR 6.8x51 video using the 113gr Ball. I got my hands on some of the new 155gr Match and now it’s a solid 1 MOA rifle.
Cue Fudds going "NOOOOO, the Germans didn't adopt the HK416, the G95A1 is totally different, that's why it's got a different name, why would it have a different name if it's the same? It's just based on the same platform but it's totally different, here's Chat GPT as proof!"

The old mostly-joking line was they'd get to the first West German supermarket, their jaws would drop, and 10 minutes later they'd be drunk on the looted booze 😅
Apparently it's common Fuddlore that sharpening the edge of a bayonet is against "the Geneva convention" (which one? 🤔)
Paragraph 0115 of the 2004 edition of Pam 5 begs to differ, insisting that the cutting edge should, in fact, be kept sharp.
So now you know 🤓
Apparently a lot of Twitter has moved on from being experts on whatever the previous [current thing] was and now they're instant experts on .223 Rem / 5.56 terminal ballistics and how a nicked ear from one should be doing Massive Damage.
Meanwhile, some 1964 goat tests in Borneo:
Unpublicised Primary Arms microprism Easter egg: with an ACOG screw they'll direct mount to an AR-15/M16 carry handle, index at the rear off the rear sight, and the appropriate mount is see-through so you've got backup irons 😱🥳😁
Another optics solution for old school uppers!
It's very easy to make a tweet containing blatant falsehoods and then restrict replies.
No mental health assessment requirement, no gun safety training requirement, licenses aren't required for all firearms, and not all firearms are required to be registered.
Unlike the U.S, Switzerland requires gun license, registration, mental health assessment & gun safety training for gun ownership.
Swiss authorities decide on a local level whether to give people gun permits. They also keep a log of everyone who owns a gun in their region —
RM with an early Colt AR-15 model 604. Presumably one of the 5000 from 1965 sent to FARELF in Borneo, for which the US mil took a small delay in deliveries of their "one-time purchase" of 104,000 604(M16)'s/603(XM16E1)'s. Which was awfully nice of them! 🇬🇧🫂🇺🇸
@FuddBusters
You know, Sonny, Gaston Glerk copied the trigger seer design from that thar Rust-Steer. One. For. One. Copy. Like Mikhail Kalashnikof copying the M1 Gran bolt and turning it upside-down and putting it in a Sturmgewher 44 to make the AK-47.
First iteration of my LARP for Finnish Brutality: go as the super rugged CZ male model advertising the CZ 600 Trail, but with as much

This antediluvian chest rig isn't actually anywhere near as bad in use as it looks. I couldn't remember the order of the reload drill so I did it both ways on different vids! I'll look it up later! 😅
@donkilmer
OMG my dude, do you really, *really* want to die on this hill?
Firstly, the MoD doesn't deal with civilian law enforcement, each police force does its own thing under the Home Office... Secondly, we have pretty much full documentation surrounding the ordering of these rifles...
@Wordsofanarchy
@RKneegrow
Here's a memo from the US Ordnance Corp's AR-15 Project Manager, Lt.Col. Yount, saying they'd ordered 104,000 AR-15 rifles as part of the "Rifle, 5.56MM, M16" project. And some other stuff from the US Army's "M16 Rifle Review Panel" report.
Get your coping gear around those...
@stoneciphe3
Sorry, you're simply wrong, as the images you quoted show.
The USAF adopted the AR-15 as the AR-15, the Army designated it M16 and XM16E1 with the forward assist (later designated M16A1 when they adopted it as standard).
I suggest you read the Congressional report, it's online
OK so let's make this Venn diagram as complete as possible without getting too out there in the weeds,
@NaviGoBoom
Not to scale, but kinda representative by number of different models...
Real Armalite was bought out and went bust in the 80's. The company currently wearing the name as a necrotic trademark skin suit bears no relation to OG Armalite, but the fact that the average consumer does not realise this is proof of the power of branding and trademarks.
@nicholadrummond
Sorry, but this is a real "tell me you don't understand anything about shotguns without telling me you don't know anything about shotguns" take...
What's kinda amazing about the AR-15 life cycle over the past 60-odd years is that aside from the couple of full auto specific trigger group parts you could swap parts between this 60 year old Colt 602 and any modern quality AR-15 and they'd fit and work.
Eh,
@Tactical_review
?
Which is better... Colt style (logo + text) or H&R style (just logo)? Logo is correct for the mid-late-60's, it only changed in 1969.
Colours will be inverted in the final patch version, I just find it easier to work with black on white for some strange reason...

You cannot beat thermodynamics: if you're gaining weight, you are by definition not running a calorie deficit.
And "low" calories =/= deficit (and most people massively underestimate their calorie intake).
This is soooo much fun! The one redeeming feature of the closed bolt Mk.6 Sterling is that it's can compatible: Wyssen in this case. Standard 124gn ammo, not subs.
This gentleman is holding his revo very "wrong" by modern standards, but perfectly correctly for the Fairbairn-type instinctive hip-shooting that the British WW2 training was based around.
From the top of the grips and what appears to be a hammer spur: .380 Enfield No.2 Mk.1
The US Navy posted this photo earlier today to their official X/Twitter account. Seriously.
This may be funny but it's also concerning. How many Sailors saw this before it was published? A lot. How did this Sailor not realize he had no sight picture? Is their
Fudds be like: "They're not directly behind the rifles and they're breaking position to look at the target screen and to reload, they should be directly behind the rifle and never move their cheek from the cheek weld or they won't shoot well"

This 608 Ian posted yesterday can be added to the list of convenient pics of full auto not-M16's that Fudds will claim is photoshopped since they really, really don't want to understand the whole genus-species thing...
Lynx Brutality registration is imminent: I promise not to wear Alpenflage this year*! 😅
*Chinesium Iraqi blue DPM, on the other hand, is not excluded from consideration 😜
@FuddBusters
I guess when the Blish "lock" seems normal and sensible and worthwhile, you'll see nothing wrong with this.
But the opium definitely had something to do with it too! 😅

I will never forgive Cooper for leaving off "...until you have convinced yourself otherwise" (or similar words) from that long-existing rule. It's led to such incredible mindless Fuddery over the years...
I believe the UK proof houses are the only CIP organs who consider this sort of thing to be a proof-requiring part... 😒🙄
According to them, it's pressure bearing and is part of the barrel... 🤷
A little comparative look at AR-15/M16, AR-180 and SAR-80 bore lines vs sight lines and butts.
There's not an awful lot in it, except that with the 180 I have to crunch my cheek down to get down to the sights. And the AR-15/M16 isn't actually that much more inline than the 180.
TSR-2 is for Britbong aeroplane nerds like the EM-2 is for Britbong gat nerds. Massive "tiny production prototype killed in the cradle due to politikz, wood of been awesome, we woz robbed, innit" vibes in both cases...
