First it was a stroke. Then a series of mini-strokes. Doctors discovered calcium fragments in Neil's bloodstream that were creating a blood flow-preventing clot.
That discovery likely saved Neil's life.

Every year I read countless PS stating their love for 🧠 solidified by experience. While I don’t have the numbers, many schools do not have a formal neuro clerkship across the country making it difficult to spark early interest or solidify with clinical correlation.

Subtle UMN weakness signs after being told NIHSS “normal” but significant orbiting and distal extensor weakness then watching them be shocked at a stroke neurologist doing more of an exam than the NIHSS 😂

To add to the ongoing ? of how to help manage these pts. Does this change surgical “clearance”/timing if indicated?Does it change angio rec?Does mycotic natural progression increase risk substantially going into OR? Etc. Nice to see your work. I knew youd do big things YEARS ago!

I’d be a bit concerned about need for further invasive procedures, esp if hematoma expands/cerebral edema worsens. While LMWH makes sense, full dose UFH easier to control for possible acute interventions/clinical deterioration/need for reversal in acute, unstable patients.
