@Nat_O_Byrne What bugs me the most about holding, is not the fact we have to do it. It’s the fact that it’s being normalised, accepted, and in some circumstances actively welcomed… I joined the job to develop as a prehospital practitioner, not become an extension of an A&E waiting room..

This is absolutely me (externally) after my students have had multiple looks and can’t find I decent vein. I saunter over and just “pop an 18g in. Internally it’s “keep cool, gotta get this in,” 🤣
1) Specialist Paramedic in critical care gaining precise POCUS-guided intravenous access with kit from their IV ankle pouch 2) Me popping a pink in the dominant ACF after some vigorous ‘tap-tap-tap’

@tacmedcop @jesip999 We’re quite lucky locally, both police and fire are equally as keen as us. Anything that is remotely more than a simple job, we gaggle together, “spin the JDM”, and move forwards as one. It gets easier the more you get to know your local commanders, as that rapport is present.

@simontutt88 @blacksladder Take a look at this, there’s finally some kind of national direction and agreement on the pathways and development.

@jbrannan23 My service does this in a fashion but is making headway in getting better. All out Clinical Mentors are going on a clinical debrief course to allow better facilitation of them following difficult/complex cases.

@heli_med_james Why are we dancing for step 6? I assume that’s what it means as I had the ability to secure airways properly taken away many years ago 🤣

@DonnchadhaD So I’ve been watching this post for a while and decided to chip in. Personally I have and would again in the future assisted should it be necessary, However, interesting bit of common law, should one of our boys in blue ask for our help and we not provide it, it’s illegal..
