Read my story on Cormac McCarthyâs secret muse on Vanity Fair.
Exclusive: Augusta Britt is one of the most significantâand secretâinspirations in literary history, giving life to dozens of Cormac McCarthyâs characters across his celebrated novels and Hollywood films. For 47 years, Britt closely guarded her identity and her storyâuntil now.

@LKrauss1 @RichardDawkins @DouglasKMurray I doubt Hitch would very much respect Murray and his position on human rights, or lack thereof.

@Graham__Hancock Where on Earth does white supremacy come into the theory at all? I've long followed Hancock's work and my assumption is that the advanced civilization is ancient meso-American - that is, NOT white. like, at all. .

@luxembourghini @Caelliox @MissPavIichenko The great thing about human brains is they're actually able to separate the importance and valuation of someone's work from that person themselves. Apparently, one is still about to read and benefit from 1984, while also knowing Orwell was reactionary. Interesting, eh?.

I went to @Harpers + Red Scare's event last week, paneled by @deankissick @annakhachiyan and @dash_eats. I thought it was great and culturally significant and took a week to thoughtfully explain whyđInterview with Dean at end of piece. Pull-quotes belowđPhotos: @manabovetown

@DouglasKMurray The hypocrisy of Douglas Murray: he cribs Vidal (a gay man)âs point about there not being such a thing as the âgay community;â extends this to âthe working class,â âwomen,â etc.; before turning around and starting his book off by saying, without quotations: I love being white.

@NBCSCycling Pure envy! @TamauPogi is getting ready to stomp in the Tour. Itâs not his fault heâs an entirely different class of cyclist. One of the most likable and popular cyclists in recent memory.

My first podcast appearance 𤊠in which I break the good news that Cormac McCarthy hated Infinite Jest. It was the reason he stopped reading contemporary fiction. Thanks @vylpill !.
Now, for the first time ever: here's what Cormac McCarthy thought of Infinite Jest. You heard it here first on Conversations With Prostitutes.

@RonyVernet I spotted in MA two nights in a row (Dec 6+7, none last night) and reported to the FBI. I havenât heard anything back but they asked detailed questions that were not dismissive and seemed to me that they were working from a prior knowledge base about this phenomenon.

@AnaKrivolapova Not to mention dogs are increasingly anxious messes bc theyâre never let outside or off leash or allowed to play with other dogs. Modern pet owners are irresponsible.

@isa2001m Youâre telling me they went after this and not Karyn Olivierâs found lobster pots from Maine which âinvoke a memory of the workâs oceanic origin but also of the practice of trading salt for enslaved people in Ancient Greeceâ? Bad taste.

What's embarrassing for my critics (and don't get me wrong: also for ME) is that of the THOUSANDS of people who have negatively quote tweeted me, liked those qt's, and wished me dead etc. for my piece and its take on Red Scare & contemporary art, according to my metrics only
if you had any doubt whether the Cormac McCarthy muse article guy sucked hereâs absolute confirmation.

@wastemailing Make sure youâre reading all of Barnes. Ladies Almanack is criminally overlooked, most just read Nightwood.

@MattPolProf Critics of Marx should at least pay him the courtesy of having read him. Intellectuals ought to "wrestle" with their opponents, so to speak.

@AlchemyAmerican @drmichaellevin @getjonwithit A computational understanding of the physical world is a misunderstanding of the physical world. Every era of civilization we've equated our current level of technology with the underlying basis of reality. It's what got us into the mechanistic mess in the first place.

@Lennyn10 @LKrauss1 @RichardDawkins @DouglasKMurray Yes. Hitchens was able to hold this opinion and believe that human beings have the right to life and sovereignty. Give it a try.

A little bookchat between me and @slicesofanxiety. Enjoy!.
@BarneysRubble0, fresh off his latest @VanityFair piece on Cormac McCarthy, is the next guest to tackle the Books to Bury Me With questionnaire. Expect sharp, no-bullshit takes.

@annakhachiyan IDW types are just mid-90s/early 2000s consensus centrists that seemed momentarily radical 20 years removed into the heyday of wokeness.

@bernardtjoy I never understood those reactions of people, that they couldn't read it because it was too violent. First of all, it's just a book, second of all there's so much more going on than just senseless mayhem -- though there is that oo.

In which my style is compared (just briefly and in a mix of praise and dispraise) to Denzel Washington.
I am sad to say that GLADIATOR II was not very good, but I did enjoy discussing why it wasn't very good with @petersuderman and @AlyssaRosenberg on Across the Movie Aisle. Also talked Cormac McCarthy and *that* Vanity Fair piece.

@eddampier @LKrauss1 @RichardDawkins @DouglasKMurray 2006 was a long time ago. Hitchens was an anti-Zionist up until the end and would have found Murrayâs support for the IDF logically contradictory and unquestioning. That Murray is not even open to the slightest question about IDF conduct is intellectually unrigorous.

@manabovetown "Her primary feelings of violation are not physical, but metaphysical. Which is curious insofar as it relates to Barneyâs critics â in ignoring Brittâs sentiments, theyâre by proxy imposing their worldviews unto her." Bravo.

My review of Henry Beanâs Nenoquich. Itâs a rare and happy occurrence when we can judge a book entirely by its epic cover.
"'The Nenoquich' and all its McNally-restored Nenoquichery bears the silver of the knife, a knife edge so sharp you miss the incision only to feel it twist in your stomach." Vincenzo Barney (@BarneysRubble0) reviews Henry Beanâs âThe Nenoquich.â

@TahaNasser_ @jordanbpeterson But thatâs how Peterson builds his platform, making judgements without proper study of the facts. JP debated a Marxist having only read the Communist Manifesto back in uni. not sure how he gets called an intellectual having never read the arguments against his positions ever.

@ggreenwald Agreed. Taibbi's criticisms are of "corporate anti-racism", which is a predominantly white-invented maneuver commodifying at the individual, menial level actions and sentiments toward race that simply support and reify white corporate power structures from the bottom.
