Not true, there are very identifiable genetic and phenotypic differences. There are mixes, such as the two aforementioned groups, but most of the Germanic and Slavic populations are genetically exactly that.

I don't support assimilation in general but the premise centrists have about it is that religion and culture are different things and one can stick with their religion and somehow integrate into host culture. Religion and culture are, in fact, the same thing.
