Will the real libertarians please stand up? What happened to the classical liberalism of Mises, Hayek, Hazlitt, and Friedman? They’ve been replaced by a bunch of religious anarchists who are somehow pro closed borders and anti abortion.
Libertarian arguments for closed borders are not only wrong, but to me seem contrived. I mean it looks to me like they started out with a conclusion, and then fabricated arguments to support that conclusion. Thoughts?

I am in utter agony. The love of my life is suffering, and will likely be gone soon. However, I wouldn’t trade one moment we shared together to avoid all the pain I feel now. It’s well worth it.
Does Marxism sound good in theory? In 1871 Menger, Walrus, and Jevons disproved the labor theory of value. In 1922 Mises showed, theoretically,the impracticality of socialism. In 1957 Ayn Rand demonstrated the evil of altruism. Marxism doesn’t sound good, in theory or otherwise.
Ludwig von Mises was the greatest economist ever. Ayn Rand was the greatest modern philosopher. How much better would the world be if their lessons were heeded?

For anyone looking for strong arguments in favor of liberty, forget about the current crop of libertarian “influencers.” Read Bastiat, Mises, Hazlitt, and Rand.
The world needs more Frederic Bastiat, Ludwig von Mises, and Ayn Rand.

Did Jeremy Boreing watch the same interview between Tucker Carlson and Joe Rogan as me? Tucker Carlson is arguing for God. He’s on our side. We should be applauding that one of the biggest faces in all of media, who was secular, is now arguing the total opposite.

I was raised by criminals, was a criminal, hung out with criminals, and spent 25 years in prison surrounded by criminals. I also spent a lot of time reading about the criminal mind. I can spot a con from a mile away. Hence I never fell for Trump, Carlson, or popular “influencers”
Many people associate Ayn Rand and her philosophy with politics. While she undoubtedly expressed a political vision, I find her emphasis on reason, individualism, and the possibility of moral perfection far more important than, and more inspiring.
Several weeks ago I saw a post from Libertarian presidential hopeful, Michael Rectenwald that claimed global elites were coordinating mass illegal immigration. I asked him for evidence, and he referred me to his book. I read the book, which didn’t mention immigration. Now:
First of all, her influence on Rothbard in terms of a realistic morality, natural rights, and the NAP serves the basis of much libertarian thinking. Second, you all hate her while most haven’t read her. Very telling, but what else to expect from a group run by mystics?
Ayn Rand hasn't been influential in libertarian circles since the 90s. She hated libertarians and none of us like her. Most of us haven't even read her.
Sayings such as, “that’s my truth,” “that’s just an opinion,” and “there are no facts,” are the confessions of cowards afraid to confront the facts that humans are fallible, cognition requires effort, and reasoning is a volitional process.
America happened despite Christianity, not because of it. The United States was founded on the natural rights theories spawned by the enlightenment, the age of reason.
We must defend the Christian heritage and institutions that gave birth to America. Christianity is the key, irreplaceable element. If we lose it, it's not so much that America will fall, it's that America will become evil.

Ayn Rand presented a philosophy to achieve happiness, a blueprint if you will. Like any blueprint, extraneous factors can interfere with, or block its implementation. But following it will greatly increase our chances of success.
Closed border advocates: we’re pro immigration, just anti illegal immigration. Me: Oh, then the solution is easy. Just legalize all immigration.
Them: Huh?
What we hear from politicians: “Ban TikTok!” “Build a wall!” “Raise taxes on the wealthy!”
What we don’t hear: “Protect individual rights!” “Secure freedom!” “Promote capitalism!”

I now know what’s it’s like to love someone with my entire being. Unfortunately, I also know what it’s like to lose the woman I loved so entirely. The joy was incredible, and the pain nearly unbearable. The way to honor her is to press forward, but damn it’s hard.

I debated Michael Rectenwald on my podcast. I challenged his assertions on X. I wasn’t insulting, disrespectful, or rude to him. Yet this author of “Springtime for Snowflakes” blocked me. That hasn’t prevented him from insulting me on other posts, however. Any thoughts?
Remember the Declaration of Independence? Remember the principle of individual rights upon which this country was founded? The leaders of the two major parties certainly don’t seem to. More accurately, they don’t seem to care.
It’s a sad state of affairs when insults are equated with arguments, ad hominem attacks are thought to be logical refutations, and uncivil behaviors are counted as intellectual victories.
The moral foundation for my views is the Objectivist ethics. Life is the standard of value, and human life the standard of moral value. Right and wrong is to be judged by each individual based on what is in his or her rational self-interest.

A woman dm’ed me and asked how dare I follow her, and how dare I mention Ayn Rand’s name. To the first, I probably just hit follow all. To the second, Rand played a large part in saving my life, so I have no plans to stop talking of her. Finally, dm’s aren’t necessary. Block me.

When I was 21 and at the beginning of a 33 year prison sentence, I told an old timer I didn’t belong in prison. He looked me in the eyes and said, “Liebowitz, you’re exactly where you need to be.” A painful truth that I needed to hear. We can’t fix what we don’t acknowledge.
One of the worst arguments for God’s existence is that without him, there can be no morality. So, the believer argues in essence, there can be no morality discoverable by reason, but since I want there to be a morality, I’ll believe in a God that reason can’t discover!
If our political system is ever going to be fixed, we first need a vast change in the dominant epistemology and ethics. We need reason and egoism. We need Objectivism.

Who cares if you’ve gone over this countless times? Your claim is ludicrous. Your argument amounts to, “The Enlightenment happened in Christian countries, therefore it’s because of Christianity.” The logical errors are manifest. Nothing about Christianity leads to liberty.

The Christian Tradition transcended the First Century. The Enlightenment doesn't happen outside of the Christian Western Tradition. Even the atheistic or agnostic thinkers were shaped by and steeped in the Christian mores of the time.
