Making her debut on the main line in a stunning new NSE livery -
@GBRailfreight
’s 73128 passing Woking! I bet
@NSE_RailSociety
are pleased to see a 73 back in this livery!
Angus is apparently leaving the
@ScotRail
Twitter team 😭 He’s irreplaceable - somebody lock the doors and refuse to let him leave! We need his good humour to get us through the week!
Next it was the turn of 4930 ‘Hagley Hall’ taking me from Arley to Hampton Loade on the
@svrofficialsite
! I’m actually really pleased with this photo!
4144 prepares to take over duties on the branch line - again running bunker first so here’s a picture of her prior to collecting her coaching stock in the rain!
@SouthernRailUK
have said “it’s never been easier to buy tickets” - they forgot to add “but we are going to make it harder especially for the vulnerable when we shut our ticket offices”
@RMTunion
@RMTunion
Just arrived at Aldershot where BOTH ticket machines were out of order… and they say TVMs are the future? Ticket clerks don’t break down like this!

@Mark_J_Harper
You keep going on about how much drivers are paid yet YOU are paid a damn slight more for doing less, have more perks, less accountability, no unsociable hours, and get weekends off… and what’s worse is you manipulate facts - it’s also about condition not just pay. Plz resign!
My second loco of the day and it’s Britain’s newest steam locomotive - on her first weekend in revenue earning service at the
@bluebellrailway
’s Brighton Works weekend!
What a great gala at the
@SpaVRofficial
! Finished it off in style with the LoadEx! (50021, 33202, D7535, 31430, 73140) Thank you to all the staff and volunteers who made the event so awesome! And an extra special thanks to whoever organised for the 03 to visit! I adore shunters!
A wonderful day at the
@bluebellrailway
’s Brighton Works weekend. A huge thank you to the staff and volunteers who made it all happen! Here are the stars of the show!

@RSPCA_official
is letting a police internal process deal with this really appropriate? If this was a member of the public you’d prosecute - do the same with that officer - the cow was hit with force and pinned by the car which must have caused distress. Deal with this properly!
@marcyeboah
@LNER
Right… sure, that’s how opinions work we base it on profile pictures! So on that basis I’m supposed to take the views seriously of two people who dress and frankly look like a demented road kill version of Kermit the Frog? 🐸 head on back to your swamp bud 😂
D7535 has come out to play and is sounding phenomenal- she’s providing a bit of cover whilst the visiting Cally tank has some work done at the
@SpaVRofficial
My day is starting to draw to an end, as the glorious Bahamas prepares to haul me back to Hampton Loade at the
@svrofficialsite
steam gala. But there might be a little surprise for my next train which is hidden in plain view!
Next up was 2999 Lady of Legend for me at the
@svrofficialsite
- she was running tender leading so I’ve included a picture from earlier too! Just the one stop - but hope to ride her again soon! She’s an epic loco 🙂
Haulage behind these beauties is always fun - operating with the beautiful 4TC set! A break for some lunch and back to riding the locos at the
@Watercress_Line
diesel gala shortly!
50008 ‘Thunderer’ leads 50021 ‘Rodney’ through Aldershot along with Class 438 ‘4TC’ number 428! All will be in action at this weekends
@Watercress_Line
diesel gala!
A couple more pictures from today at the
@SpaVRofficial
- thanks as ever to the staff and volunteers who work so hard to make these events what they are and let us all remember the bravery and sacrifices made by those in 303 Squadron for whom 34053s renaming pays tribute.
A line up of legends from yesterdays diesel gala at the
@Watercress_Line
from L - R: 50027 ‘Lion’, 50021 ‘Rodney’ 506, 43480 (Behind the water tower), D8059 (20059), 50008 ‘Thunderer’.
35006 ‘Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company Ltd’ and 35018 ‘British India Line’ - two Merchant Navy locomotives working together on a preservation line is a fantastic thing! Saturday at Strictly Bulleid II at the
@SwanRailway
has been superb!
Possibly the star of today at the
@svrofficialsite
- D9551 - she might be small but she’s epic! Thrash, clag and delighting all the punters! She is proof that bigger isn’t always better!
Day 2 at the
@svrofficialsite
finished behind the lovely 37409 ‘Loch Awe’ and she certainly left the punters in awe of her awesomeness! Another great day - roll on tomorrow!
450051 provides my transport home after a fantastic day on 313201! Thanks to
@realPeterSpokes
for organising this! If anyone reading this wants to support the preservation of 313201, please head to
Today was all about Archie! The stunningly restored Battle of Britain locomotive was rededicated today with many descending upon the
@bluebellrailway
to welcome her into full service - including the wonderful
@MrTimDunn
who made a nice little speech for the ceremony.
Great to see
@JoshBabarinde
giving an on air interview with the Airbourne team - a new breed of MP - an inspirational guy. There’s not many MPs I like, but this guy is a legend! I hope the people of Eastbourne rally behind him for years to come!
The other loco on today is the glorious 73140 proudly flying her flags in commemoration of the renaming of 34053 ‘303 Squadron’ seen here at Eridge and Groombridge on the
@SpaVRofficial
@THemingford
Agreed - I have a sizeable shortfall on rent for a place suitable to my disability needs, I use PIP to top that up so as I have somewhere suitable to live!
Sadly 50021 ‘Rodney’ became poorly early in the day and could play no further part in today’s proceedings at the
@eorailway
. Rodders was dragged back to North Weald behind the 47 this morning. The other diesels rotated to provide cover and still ensured a great day for all!
After a spot of line-side videoing this morning, my first loco of the day is the glorious Western - D1015 ‘Western Champion’ on day 4 of the
@svrofficialsite
diesel gala
Got home just in time to see 34072 ‘257 Squadron’ arrive too and tail with D8188. Then after a quick restock at the shop, D8059 passed over the bridge into Alton station.
I’ve been riding all night long on ‘The Knight Rider’ behind the glorious 34070 ‘Manston’ and daybreak is upon us and it looks like it’s going to be another beautiful day at the
@SwanRailway
and the final day of Strictly Bulleid II
Chaos…. Just chaos, boarding a peak time train before people are off - I know
@sw_help
need to turn trains around quickly in times of delay but in doing this it caused more chaos than waiting 3 minutes to announce the train.
What an absolutely stunning way to end the day and
@svrofficialsite
Spring Diesel Festival! The last ride behind D1015 ‘Western Champion’ was one to remember! A giant serving of thrash, a side order of clag and topped off with a healthy dose of awesomeness!
Not gonna lie, whilst I don’t normally fight fire with fire, I’m quite proud of this response… if people act like a dick, they get called out… but sometimes you have to take it to their level 😂
Back to the
@Watercress_Line
diesel gala and it’s now time to ride behind the gorgeous and freshly painted 59104 from
@RailFreight
- as she is air braked the beautiful D8188 joins her to act as translator.
@creatingdesire
In their defence - some of the places on the SwR network are complete dumps (online on the network so speak with confidence) - this saves you from seeing some right awful places 😂
80151 is in disguise again, today running as 80154 which I believe was the last of the class to be made army Brighton Works! She may well be the youngest Brighton Works loco left, built in 1957! Now she calls the
@bluebellrailway
home and she’s by 4th and final loco of the day.
The remaining stars of the
@SpaVRofficial
diesel gala! Having the 03 and 08 on passenger services was a real treat - I adore shunters! Also 33063 included here - a stunning loco, sadly sitting out the gala due to scheduled bodywork repairs.
On my way home… at Tonbridge where blue meets green with a
@Se_Railway
Class 375 Electrostar comes face to face with a
@SouthernRailUK
Class 377 Electrostar!
Day 3 at the
@svrofficialsite
diesel gala - here is 50007 arriving at Highley a little earlier! Though for me, after plenty of action with the 20s and now the 59… full and standing, but a new one for haulage!
And it’s farewell to the
@SwanRailway
as 34053 ‘Sir Keith Park’ leads a double headed service with 34028 ‘Eddystone’ out of Swanage with the poorly 34081 ‘92 Squadron’ watching on. Thanks to all of and volunteers for a great event - Strictly Bulleid II was off the scale awesome!
Strictly D-Day - preview day for Strictly Bulleid this weekend - 34070 ‘Manston’ stands in for poorly 92 Squadron and is joined by 563 the T3 and 34072 ‘257 Squadron’
It’s the birthday girl - Caledonian Railway number 828! She’s an absolute beauty and celebrating her 125th birthday at the
@SpaVRofficial
! Just about to head back to Eridge behind her!
Last week, I complimented a
@SW_Help
guard. She saw me yesterday and thanked me saying that her manager passed on the comment! It’s nice to know that the feedback does make it’s way back to the stars who make a difference to our journeys 🙂

@SW_Help
If track is now life expired, one must ask why this wasn’t replaced in the previous 10 month closure. Seems it was predictable and could have saved further closures. Equally with the recommissioning of the passing loop at Brading, could the footbridge not have been done then?
First steam of the day at the
@ChinnorRailway
7820 ‘Dinmore Manor’ - my first time behind this beauty! She is visiting from the
@GWSR
! Am absolutely stunning loco!
@christiancalgie
Ah the river entrance - ideal for the Reading Festival back in the day - a stroll along the river to the green campsite entrance as it was back then!
A typically British summer day in East Grinstead…. The
@bluebellrailway
formally rededicate and launch Sir Archibald Sinclair today… sadly the weather man didn’t get the memo!
My penultimate train of the
@svrofficialsite
diesel festival! It’s the gorgeous D8568 - the sole surviving class 17 ‘Clayton’, a wonderful little loco!
@MarkOrmrod
I’m autistic - I got told off by someone who isn’t autistic for stating my diagnosis instead of saying ‘neurodiverse’, because according to her the word autistic is “degrading towards neurodiverse people”… erm… no… it’s my diagnosis 😂
73140 has come out to play today at the
@SpaVRofficial
- a glorious loco, on day 3 of their diesel gala! Appearing alongside classes 03, 08, 25, 31, 33, 50 and 207! An epic line up 🙂
Something a little rare today -
@GWRHelp
services were using platform 4 at Basingstoke today rather than their usual bay in platform 5! Made for a great opportunity to picture their gorgeous Networkers!
My first run up the line at the
@eorailway
was behind 20048 - the visiting class 20 from the
@svrofficialsite
, she sounded AMAZING! She was joined by 20227 for the leg out the the Epping Forest - but I’ll grab a picture of her later!
