June 2019 - Cl 442 returned to the WX route. Issues with traction which affected the sig system & restrictions resulting in the need of 2 drivers it wasn’t without its challenges!
Little did we all know how short lived it was gonna be with just events as little as 8m later…
A nice New splitting banner repeater at Staines following the resignalling. Only draw back really now is it’s very difficult for guards to see the routing here.
Service facts for Waterloo:
- 237 Unique stopping patterns (to/from WAT)
- 1W51/1W53 have the most stops (28 stops incl dest)
- 1F83/2L88/1L74 have the least (4 stops incl dest)
- 2H91 Shortest length of service (29 minutes)
- 1L65 longest length of service (3h 45 minutes)
Dunno why but I find it weirdly interesting that that Down line track circuit here is split into 3 different sections even though it’s indicated as only 1 in the signal box. Suspect it was to do with the ground frame / fuel terminal that used to be here. You can see the track
Carrying on from the train in unusual locations posts. Back in 2019 I was asked to plan a 707 from Wimbledon Park Depot to Northam Depot. 7014 seen at Eastleigh.
Third Rail Superiorness.
It’s all good until:
- It gets knocked over (it’s not attached to its insulators)
- It ices over
- You wanna go faster than 100mph
Throwback to 2014. Work Experience with TfL. On the Victoria 09 stock simulator. When the trainer puts leaves on the line and you slide through the signal 😂
Its shame seeing that Peterborough and Feltham Signal boxes have closed. But they will still live on in my drawings. Extract shown below.

If u can plan to get up in the morning to catch a certain train u can plan train crew diagrams - it’s the same principle! Highly recommend applying if you’re looking to join the industry or fancy your hand at behind the scenes! Any questions drop me a pm.
