Great to know that I couldn't get a job in radiology with a BSc, MBCHB with honours and MSRA score of 573! Wish someone had told me that all I had to do was become a PA. 🤬.
Introducing two special members of our team! Helen Bucknall is our first IR advanced practitioner and Lottie Lewis is the UK's very first IR physician associate. We're privileged to have them both! @StGeorgesTrust @StgRadiology @PPaauk @SCoRMembers @cirsesociety @SIRspecialists

@DHSCgovuk Here is my payslip showing £14.09 per hour. Even if we take pay on top of basic into account, it still comes out at £14.31 per hour (2747.96÷4÷48). I studied at university for 7 years, have >£70,000 student debt and work to save lives 48 hours a week. I deserve more.

Medical students, please don't let yourselves get guilted into doing clinical work over your holidays because of the strikes. It won't be an interesting experience. Medical schools/hospitals should be ashamed for suggesting it. Enjoy your Christmas and time off! From @MedReddit

@ImperialNHS Why did all your F1s just cancel their locum shifts? Because when they asked you to raise the medical rates to equal the surgical rates, you instead decreased the surgical rates including for shifts ALREADY BOOKED! 😑😠👎.

Unpopular opinion time -> The BMA should be solely a trade union, focused on improving the working lives of doctors. I don't think BMA should be commenting on anything else, be that Gaza, Abortion or the Cass review. Comments welcomed.
We are aware of press speculation about our internal policy making process and the Cass review - please see our response below🧵1/4.

I kindly request that @BMA_JuniorDocs don't cancel the January strikes because my study leave request for the MSRA has been rejected by my hospital's medical staffing team. 😡😭.

Found on @MedReddit. What the fuck is this @RCPath? I'll tell you what it is. SHIT. It is shit. What next? RCEM telling you to bring your own CT scanner? I mean, I honestly wouldn't be surprised at this point.

I've received NUMEROUS messages from medical students at @LivUniMedicine who are being forced to attend placement on strike days and feeling coerced/pressured to act outside their competencies. I emailed the university and they did. NOTHING. @TheBMA are aware. @HazelRScott

Hi @FPARCP I'm a bit concerned because in the article below, it states that the PAs at @TorbaySDevonNHS work autonomously. As far as I was aware and according to GMC guidance, they need to be supervised which this article suggests is not the case.

Hopefully this is a typo @kingsmedicine? Medical students are not there to undermine the industrial action of doctors. Medical students attend placement to learn, not to scribe your ward rounds!

@juliaisobela We had a radiology lecture. The lecturer asked what was on the abdo x-ray and said it was something that should never be seen on the x-ray. I asked if the person had eaten a snake. Nope. The women was pregnant. I thought the spine was a snake 😂.

Doctors are due to start work at @Mersey_Care in three weeks and have still not received their rotas. Honestly, it's a disgrace. I've tried emailing and @TheBMA have been in touch with the trust. Please address this ASAP @JR_MerseyCare.

@L101Mike I was in the top 500 of over 3000 applicants. I'd argue that all of those 3000 are more qualified to work in radiology than a PA.

@L101Mike I ranked about 440 but unfortunately only about 300 radiology training jobs nationwide this year. Thank god we have PAs to do the work that radiology trainees could be doing /s.

And have you asked your doctors how it is impacting their opportunities to gain experience in these procedures? I'm guessing not.

@izzie_kathryn @DHSCgovuk I was doing a solo ward round on my first day as a doctor. I am not supervised when I am completing jobs for all my ward patients. I am not supervised when I am called to the ward to review critically ill patients. I am a qualified professional. I deserve more than £14 per hour.

Hi @HolmesJanelle. There are some F1s at Arrowe Park Hospital willing to pick up the unfilled surgical shifts for tomorrow but unfortunately not for less than the BMA recommended locum rates. Please DM me if you'd like to discuss this 😊.

@DHSCgovuk @FullFact Full pay restoration would take my pay from ~£14 per hour to ~£19 per hour. For someone who prescribes medications, assesses unwell patients, liaises with families, verifies deaths, £19 an hour would still be a bargain.

@philwilliams766 @StuMaitland Yes, less than a HCA because HCAs receive enhanced pay on bank holidays. Read the references 🙂.

@HerculesAmadeus @BBCNews Being a medical student is a full-time job. Placements are daily 9-5 and there is expected study outside of this. Healthcare students do not have time to have a job on top of their studies. Those that do pay for it with their grades and this has long-term impact!.

@BuddGeorgie Sounds an awful lot like what was said by many last year about FPR and striking "you're living in an echo chamber, it's not what the membership want". Are you sure it's not the sentiment of the wider membership?. .

@FraserNelson Hi @FraserNelson, here is my March payslip. Even if we consider all things in addition to basepay, my hourly rate still comes out at £14.31. For someone with 7 years of university and >£70,000 student debt, who saves lives, I deserve better than having had my pay cut 26.1%.

Absolutely appalling behaviour by the rota coordinator at the trust in question. If doctors behaved this poorly, we'd be GMCed.
Reposted upon reflection and have blurred out semi identifiable info. We can do better than this. Please do not name the trust if you saw my previous tweet. Have contacted the trust in question.

@DrEilidhMaria On my current ward, the word "Doctors" was removed from the sign on the office door and it has been replaced with "ANPs" written in marker pen. Not very #bekind or #oneteam. It makes us doctors feel unwelcome. Why not Clinicians Room?.

There's a motion going to BMA junior doctors committee next month to push for a dedicated doctors office on every ward ✊.
@DeakinSue1 That every ward apart from ours in surgery has a doctors office/room and you can’t complete a task when sat on the main ward.

Same goes for @wuthnhs. At least two F1s have received NO PAYMENT. How do you expect them to pay for transport to come to work if you haven't paid them for a month? Switchover happens every year. Why is there no good system in place to ensure people are paid?.
Have you @UHSussex paid your doctors their wages as per their contract on 24th August? Reports from doctors having not been paid at all!. CFO on AL 31st.Divisional Finance Manager AL 1st Sept.Divisional Head of Finance AL 30th Aug. 1/3.

@Eltonchris @Doctors_Vote As a BMA rep, entirely aware that anaesthetists are involved in c-sections, as well as neonatologists sometimes too! The graphic is to prove a point about how we are undervalued for carrying out essential tasks, not educate about all the members in a c-section team 😖.
