Hi
#medtwitter
and
#dermtwitter
! My name is Annelise, I’m an M4
@ColumbiaPS
applying into Dermatology in the 2024 match.
I’m passionate skin of color research, reading fantasy novels and my two kitties, Nacho and Floki.
Looking forward to connecting over the coming months!
Grateful to be able to present our research on hidradenitis suppurativa and to have been awarded 1st place in the Medical Student Research Symposium
@NMADerm
. Definitely feel like I’ve found my place 🥰
A newbie to
#MedTwitter
, hello!! I’m Annelise, a first year student at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons interested in dermatology. I’m looking to connect with mentors in dermatology and other future
#derm
applicants.
Our perspective piece, “Clinical translation of hidradenitis suppurativa genetic studies requires global collaboration” was just published in the British Journal of Dermatology! Free access here:
Looking forward to presenting our research on adverse female reproductive outcomes among women with hidradenitis suppurativa at
@bwhdermatology
research symposium today!
I’m sad to have finished my last derm sub-I, but very grateful to have learned so much
@bwhdermatology
. Crazy to think that the next time I’m in derm clinic, I’ll be a resident 😳
SO excited that our abstract discussing the effects of HS on female reproductive health was awarded a plenary talk at the
@bwhdermatology
Medical Student Virtual Symposium!! I will be presenting May 26th 😍😍
Very proud of our most recent publication! A greater awareness of what single-gene causes of skin disease look like in clinical practice can benefit everyone.
Dear
#dermtwitter
Are single-gene causes of skin disease under-recognized in clinical practice?
We argue yes. And that there are opportunities today for identifying them and using that information to improve the management of skin disease.
Congratulations to the close to 150 people awarded travel grants to help attend the 2022 SID Annual Meeting. View the list of recipients via the link below.
Thank you everyone for the support! I’m doing 2 moves (one being cross-country) so posting my medgrad wishlist in case anyone would like to support! :
Really appreciate it
So impressed by M2
@AnneliseColvin
and her delivery of skin of color HS research at tonight’s NMA Derm Journal Club. So professional, informative and suave 🥹😎
Reminder that rejection is not a reflection of you! It hurts and you can validate that feeling without internalizing it. It is not a confirmation of all your worst fears of being unsuccessful or unworthy.
It says a lot when a Black woman shares her experience with racism and the anecdotes invalidating her experience flood in. Maybe you should question why that’s your immediate reaction.

As med school application season rolls around again I'm begging you to not pay medical students for advice or editing services. They're scammy weirdos. Genuine mentorship costs $0. Many, many students and physicians on
#MedTwitter
will help you and expect nothing in return.
After 41 years as Ob/Gyn resident, Professor, Sr. Assoc. Dean, at Columbia University Medical Center (Columbia VP&S), I’m retiring. Much love for patients, medical student “babies” & colleagues! I’ll miss you! Next phase!

For my surgery rotation, a pair of hokas SAVED me even if they weren’t the cutest. Allbirds are super comfy for regular clinic days and I’ve been able to do business casual with them!

Popular opinion: we need more sex education in medical school.
Very few ...any? Courses talk about sexual wellness/wellbeing let alone sexual dysfunction: ED, decreased libido, etc.
It actually is a major aspect of patient’s lives.

😂 had to check! My gymnastics coach also was a stunt man for spider man movies and I was gonna tell you that you hit the jackpot! Good guy. Who knew there were so many stuntmen!

MGH is close to Boston Common, which is lovely and just got some snow. The Liberty Hotel next to MGH has “Clink” which used to be a jail and has great drinks. And pub for all of the North end if you like Italian, but especially carmelina’s and Regina pizzeria!
@dessielclark
Congratulations! It’s going to be better than okay! You get to live more authentically and that will take a weight off your shoulders. 🤗🥳🌈

Chalk! Can’t touch it, can’t even think about it. Also wood, like the spoons in those little ice cream cups. And unglazed pottery is the worst.
