I matched into
@ColumbiaDerm
! Five years ago I started medical school, and now, I am the first black man to match into dermatology at my institution. Stick to your dreams; you never know where your prayers, hard work, and good intentions will take you. Elated to say the least. 🙏🏾
Presented at my first conference. So grateful to all of my mentors who have pushed me to get to this far. I hope I can do the same for some person one day. From massive imposter syndrome to this, I have come such a long way.

Five years ago, I recall applying to medical school and the uncertainty that came with it. Cycles of faith, doubt, hope, prayer, fear, but in the end, the cycle ended with triumph. Five years later, I am hoping for triumph during this dermatology residency application season!
A simple, yet powerful phrase that has impacted my life so heavily is “the worst you can hear is no”.
Shoot your shot. What may seem like rejection really is just you finding the right door that you already hold the key to.
This was a great weekend. A huge thank you to the
@AAMCtoday
for the opportunity to participate in the first inaugural AAMC Learner Summit. So grateful to have been selected for this and be around so many great individuals in across the nation in healthcare.
Wishing the best of luck with the residency interview season to all my friends, peers, and future colleagues whom just submitted their ERAS applications!
Had a great time meeting people and hearing about latest findings in Skin of Color earlier this month. Excited to continue on this journey into dermatology with meeting plenty of people on the way!

That’s my mentor! Even as a non-voting student, I urge everyone to go vote. Dr. Taylor is one of the most passionate, determined, and experienced individuals I have ever met. She leads by example. I can only imagine how well she would lead the AAD as President.
I think I’m slowly learning that part of the process of becoming great is recognizing (and being forgiving of) moments when your not actually at your best. It happens. Keep moving forward y’all. Sharing for anyone who needs to hear this.
Reading this thread reminded me of my
@PrometricGlobal
experience during STEP 1. While some proctors were fine, there were some who were rude and contributed to noticeable distractions during the test. It felt as though they saw us all as those "annoying type A students".
I thought coming home after finally finishing the USMLE step series would be such a victorious moment. Instead I’m replaying the moment where my examiner told me he “did not like my attitude” and proceeded to turn off my computer MID-EXAM.

Here we present 13 years of new data from the DoD on 25,897 military, civilian, NATO, and partner forces who were injured in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and Syria.

Love this review series! Another thing that helps give it away on questions (for me) is the hair growth. With AIS there is no or very sparse hair but with 5aRD def due to the high levels of unconverted testosterone hair growth is present still in the vignette
@UKOkoji
100% the large for both top and pants. Made the mistake and bought medium bottoms and large tops per a recommendation…and it’s not 💪🏾🦵🏾 friendly imo. I am now considering buying new pants 😭
Next stop Greenville, SC for Family Medicine Residency!! Fell in love with Prisma Health - Greenville during my interview and visit! I’m so happy to be matched with my
#1
choice & starting our new chapter there!

It was okay! But if I recall I think checking in bags and stuff was more expensive than I planned (enough to have equated to the price of other airlines)

is a part of being involved with healthcare as a student that I often find difficult to do successfully. So during this rotation I told myself that I am going to be intentional about actively pursuing a non-academic activity on a regular basis.
Anyone have suggested resources for learning and improving with suturing? Trying to be proactive and *not* succumb to a current acute episode of imposter syndrome during my surgery rotation..
