I enjoy communicating with SEOs whether it's through a video call, phone call, or DMs.
If you're an
#SEO
and haven't said hello, please comment below or shoot me a DM😀 I'd love to meet even more of the great people out there.
Writing meta descriptions may be my least favorite SEO activity.
Why?
1. Google will rewrite ~70% of the time
2. Most pages don’t rank well enough for it to have an impact on CTR anyway
I’m definitely in the “last resort” camp when it comes to prioritization.
Xavier Tillman is the only Spartan to have a game where he led the team in scoring, a game where he led in rebounding, and a game where he led in assists

, take 15 seconds right now and do a site: search of your site with "lorem" as the keyword.
Example - site:[insertdomain] "lorem"
It's a simple way to find CMS template pages that made their way into the index on accident.
Wayfair has been mentioned at least three times during Day 1 of
#SearchLove
. It's awesome to work on a website that continues to carry a reputation as a leader in the SEO world.

In fact, Wayfair started off as dozens of exact match domains as dropshipping sites utilizing SEO. They were then consolidated into one (Wayfair) site a little over a decade ago. The whole company wouldn’t exist without SEO.
People can hate on SEO Twitter, but I put out an SOS and you all came through with the kindest responses and DMs. It means a lot.
In times like these, you find out who your village is and the family, friends, and internet strangers that surround me is so uplifting. Thank you.
I recently showed one of my freelance clients the
@semrush
SEO Writing Assistant tool.
He asked a fantastic question:
Can I use this to input a competitor's content and see where their gaps are for the terms we want to rank for?
ABSOLUTELY! What a great use case!
I’m happy to share that I’ll be joining
@moarinternets
’s team at Wayfair as a Sr. SEO Analyst. I couldn’t be more excited to work on a team with such talented SEOs and take the next step in my journey!
There's often a missed opp in SEO to go after branded terms:
- [company] reviews
- [company] phone number/address/email
- [company] history
- [company] coupons/discounts
- [company] careers/jobs
SEOs tend to focus on non-brand, but owning branded queries first should be a must.
My aunt called me a f****t behind my back for these glasses.
The Lansing City Income Tax worker freaked out and told me only a certain type of person can pull these off the way I do.

I never regret waking up for sunrises. Plus I got 3.5 miles in and a coffee.
I don’t fly home until Monday so a couple days to relax and decompress in San Diego before I hit the ground running on Tuesday with my newly gained conference knowledge!
Today is a tough day. I'm one of the lucky ones who was not impacted by the Wayfair RIF, but many close colleagues were. If you have friends at the company, make sure to check on them. There are some really great candidates reentering the market.
@LidiaInfanteM
Zoom out. “Not strategic enough” usually means “too tactical.”
So what are industry goals? Then the company goals? Then marketing/site goals? Then SEO goals?
Usually there’s enough thinking & learning at that point to be in a mindset to think strategy first and tactical second.
I went to the bar the other day and read 100 pages. I was clear with the bartender I’d have headphones in and would let her know when I needed something.
Her response?
“Oh yes, you’re my favorite type of customer.”
I learned a helpful trick today without needing any plug-ins --> screenshotting a whole page!
1. Using Chrome, go to dev tools
2. Click the three dots on the top right and click 'Run command'
3. In the command line search for 'screenshot'
4. Pick 'Capture full size screenshot'
Everyone is talking about the new Coverage report in GSC, but what nobody has brought up is that you can filter for 'Unsubmitted pages only.'
Before, I believe it was either (1) all pages or (2) all pages submitted in a sitemap.
Now seeing the pages not in a sitemap is great!
When people ask me how I feel about MSU losing in the Final Four, I’m going to direct them to this. Basketball is a game; it’s a platform. College athletes have more to them than just basketball.

It annoys me how name dropping is what gets views.
I struggle to get a few hundred views per post on some actually valuable info.
The moment I mention Wayfair though? That’s when I get dozens of new followers and a ton of views.
I am continually impressed by
@Neeva
's search engine.
Here are some things that stand out:
- No ads
- Able to update search location
- Spaces (save links into named collections)
- Personal tab to search Gmail and Drive
- Personalized news providers
Shame on me. I was one of many last season that piled on the negativity to Nick Ward for his poor body language and lack of motor. We forget athletes are people too.
Nick Ward played the 2017-18 season with one eye on the court and one eye on his mother, who was fighting for her life. The untold story, from

I stumbled upon this tool which provides an easy way to see a live webpage, the Google cache, and the Wayback Machine.
It's certainly bookmarkable rather than having to open new tabs every time.
SEO is not dead, but Page 1 of Google is.
Infinite scroll now exists on desktop and mobile.
There isn't an option to click on page 2 now because it's all just one big scrollable page.
I call myself an SEO not because I want to sound close to a CEO, but because I don’t want to be called a guru, ninja, master, wizard, or any other stupid name.
I’m surprised the article went the direction of “CEO” and not those other nonsensical names people use.

We say Google is the dominant search engine and focus most of our time there as SEOs.

Yes. It may look different with social platforms, apps, voice, etc. but there will always be a platform where people are searching and there will be a need to fill with applicable results.
2021-22 was the year I learned to love the person this is. It’s been a hell of a journey with ups and downs, but I’ve learned to be happy with just who I am.
Broken URLs Trick:
Google Analytics --> Behavior --> Site Content --> All Pages
Click on the "Page Title" tab.
In the search box, enter in the title tag of your 404 page (generally Page not found).
Click on the 404 page.
This will show you a list of broken URLs w/pageviews.

I’ve been a LeBron fan for 21 years since he was a junior in high school and I’m finally seeing him today, in the playoffs no less.
Oh, and 3 former Michigan State players are on these rosters.
I’ve already won today.
Man, I definitely shed a few tears watching Tum go out for the final time. I’ve spent four years defending that guy and his place on the team. He will be missed by the true Spartan fans.
We're currently experiencing longer than usual delays in the Search Console performance report. This only affects reporting, not crawling, indexing, or ranking of websites. We'll update here once this issue is resolved. Thanks for your patience!

You’re seriously saying you’d rather play USC and Marquette than Fairleigh Dickinson and Florida Atlantic? Get out of here
Shoutout to my team at Wayfair for giving me the day after my school was shot up.
I went for an 8 mile hike with waterfalls and stunning overlooks. I met up with a good friend. I needed solitude and some support and I could seek that out today.
Tomorrow will be a better day.
I’ve walked 40+ miles the past four days in Boston.
I leave tonight to go to

Stoked to deepen my SEO knowledge and meet some of my “Twitter friends” in person!!
Working 100% remote has empowered me to be more active in my social life after work.
I also traveled the country last year, mostly spontaneously, in a way I never imagined I’d be able. This led to new friends and learning more about how others work/interact.
We’re the same type of weird if you open a pack of candy, then you:
- separate all the flavors
- see which one has the lowest count
- eat the “extras” of the other flavors
- when even, round robin all flavors
I'm speaking at a conference in a couple weeks about Accessibility and SEO and it's forcing me to brush up on my WCAG knowledge. It's something everyone should become familiar with.
