Hello outdoors - and glorious blue sky on my release from on-return self-isolation in Kabul. Spent a busy 10 days with on-line discussions, but great to stroll in the sunshine and see people (socially distanced and with mask of course).
On this 🇦🇫National Day of Mourning to show our solidarity with the people of Afghanistan and all those who mourn, we have half-masted our flag 🇬🇧. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.
Another day of violence in Kabul - my thoughts go to the families of the victims. The UK continues to support the Afghan people, who deserve to be able to get on with their lives in peace.
I had a wonderful conversation today with some inspiring and dynamic members of

Another heinous terrorist attack against a place of worship, killing Maulvi Azizullah Mofleh at Kabul’s Sher Shah Suri. Our condolences to victims and families. Civilians are not targets. Stop the killing.
Appalled by today’s attack on a Sikh-Hindu temple in Kabul. I commend the local authorities for their quick response. Religious minorities should never be a target.

Another appalling targeted attack on civilians in Kabul, killing two eminent women judges and injuring others. We condemn this and all attacks on civilians and call for an urgent investigation into those responsible. Deepest condolences and sympathy to all affected.

We continue to underline that this continuing violence, including the deplorable attacks in

Those responsible for this and all indiscriminate attacks killing and injuring civilians show they have no regard for human life, for international and Afghan law or for the longing for peace felt everywhere in Afghanistan.

“These threats demonstrate a chilling disregard for human life. At a time when the Taliban claims to be pursuing peace, it is threatening to carry out war crimes by attacking civilians at election rallies."
