Today, 20th May, we are celebrating Shackleton day. This is a South Georgia public holiday that celebrates the day in 1916 that Shackleton, Worsley and Crean arrived at Stromness whaling station thus enabling the rescue of the entire crew of the Endurance.

Lady Shackleton expressed her wish for Sir Ernest Shackleton to be buried at South Georgia.
