You already know what it is. CD Projekt Red and Trigger got me out of a creative rut this weekend so I'm making a mini love letter <3 Screenshots in thread below

Cyberpunk Love Letter WIP. It's been years since I went down the After Effects rabbit hole. The floor bounce options in their particle simulations took me by surprise - I shall never doubt AE again

So I first make a 3D Previs cut to choreograph my shots, get the timing down and especially choose the camera angles (I change my mind on angles too much). Then this becomes the blueprint for the 2D character animation on top and takes cares of the CG background integration too.
I cruised around Night City to find a new location for this and now I don’t think I can do a photography trip in the real world again. This game is too beautiful!

Just discovered that OLM have FREE alternatives to the plugins that I've used in this video. OLM Smoother, OLM Blur and OLM Color Key are direct alternatives to these effects. Thank you OLM - they can be found here:

Hey sorry for the late reply. I’m self taught from a bunch of YouTube tutorials from years ago. Just did a search and I recommend every minute of this video:
@TheNeonArcadeNA
Thanks so much! Though I have no idea when or in what state the final piece will be - I’m juggling it amongst other things, you know how it goes :’(
@lid177
This is my OC for a franchise I will build for years to come. Thanks so much for the interest!
@FrankAndVic
is the page for it - there will be more blue blood haha

Thanks for all the comments on my last few posts! Yeah it’s hand drawn - no I didn’t use references on this one but I often do use 3d Previs to template out my shots.
@TeheeFB
As I’m working alone, I keep it loose - I storyboard first if a composition comes to me and I need to get the idea down. You can see how I boarded the first two shots here. The rest of the shots came out of previs built around those two SB panels.
@stealcase
🤣 the bowl of noodles actually backfired because I later realised that it’s supposed to be windy in the scene… I should’ve taken the bowl outside. But anyways very glad it could be useful!
@jamex_art
Thank you! Previs/layout is super valuable for sure, I consider it the playground for cinematography where you can really experiment and refine the craft (in this medium anyway).
I use Autodesk Maya but recommend Blender for these purposes to any new artists.
@rndmid
Thank you! For this shot I went full blown 2D as it was a static performance shot (nothing crazy with the camera). I have a more complex process for the rest of the sequence which I will be posting later though!
@TheSilverArtis2
Ahah thank you - wip in this sense is more referring to the overall project being in progress, though every shot is always under change :/
@commandergal
I haven’t tried grease pencil because I’m lazy but it looks great for sure! Been working on this on and off for a year… and yeah it’s just a short. Thanks for checking my stuff out!
@Vann_Oba
Ahah thank you. I haven’t used this process ever since, but for some reason it was well needed back then. I think I just wasn’t feeling inspired enough in 3D, so doing a thorough 2D version was the remedy!
@animatorchris
Oh I see, I have no idea then. I’ve had no problem lately but I do recall having to playblast a few times like that a long time ago but I always assumed I was clicking/doing something wrong too xD. Maya’s killing our confidence out here
@StephanFrost
Thanks a bunch! I started it in July 2019 and left it since March 2020. I worked on it very on and off and a little at a time across those months. I spent most my time on it redoing the ideas of the opening shots. Might finish it in 2077
