I had a phase where everyday, the first thing I did was open Sakugabooru and look at a specific animator. Essential for any animator.
i don’t mean this in a mean way: i hope most american animation artists and designers are exploring sakugabooru
you can look up clips from lots of anime, and many more animations from outside japan — and even down to the particular artist that drew your favorite parts!

Dude did so many legendary scenes.
I still don't fully grasp Naoki Kobayashi's animation greatness cuz this man is amazing and he did more great sequences than i could imagine.

Something I’ve found to be really beneficial to me is changing my thinking from “getting better than others”, to just loving Art.
A competitive nature MAY be motivating but if you’ll improve at the same rate then save yourself all the stress and just enjoy what you do.

Toshiyuki Inoue mentions in his walk cycles notes how he sometimes uses the Head Sway in his walks, but recommends not using it in production. Richard Williams mentions the difference between Film and TV animation too, how 24fps is a luxury.

Many animators tend to focus more on raw motion nowadays (which I still enjoy), but I feel we can make much more striking and lasting works if we think more about enhancing the story being told.

I realised that people probably just don’t believe a normal human being would do animation.
They think “animation takes so long” and when they see an animated show it’s unbelievable to them that every frame was drawn by a person. Literal magic.
