The list is long, but the board is small. Sending appreciation and thanks to everyone in the supply chain with the critical role of supplying the medical equipment and food we need: operators, assemblers, warehouse workers, truckers, farmers, delivery people and grocery staff.
Relax out there. Put down the phone. Focus on the road. Enjoy the drive. If someone is tailgating-- they need to relax too, but don't engage the rage! The smartest and safest thing to do is move over and let them pass.
Drive safely! Life is fra-gee-lay is a reference to the film, A Christmas Story. Come to think of it, it's actually a film about safety. Highway safety (changing a flat tire); electrical safety (don't overload outlets); and firearms safety (don't shoot your eye out). Enjoy!
Here comes the cavalry! This very satisfying to watch video from the 511WI traffic camera on I-41 near Hampton Ave about 10:30 this morning shows
@MKECountyHwy
using a team plowing operation to clear the snow. Thanks to all the operators out there getting the roads cleared.
To support truckers as they make critical shipments of medical supplies, groceries and other equipment, WisDOT is keeping its 28 rest areas and five weight enforcement facilities open. Both offer all-hours access to restrooms, vending, parking and more.
Tailgating is an unsafe driving behavior and so is impeding the flow of traffic. If you encounter someone moving at a higher speed than you, the safe approach is to move right and allow them to pass. Drive right and pass left.

If you slide off the road or your vehicle breaks down, it’s generally safest to stay buckled up inside your vehicle until help arrives. Getting out of your vehicle and walking around a highway is always dangerous, but especially when roads are slippery.

Everyone should be on the look out for orange and deer whether you're on the road or in the woods. Deer crashes are near peak. There will be roughly 4000 this month alone. Construction barrels are out there too. Keep yourself and others safe by staying focused and staying sober.
ALERT: I-94 FULL FREEWAY CLOSURE in Racine Co. due to an incident. NB traffic exiting at KR. SB traffic exiting at Hwy G. This will be a long-duration closure. Please avoid the area and use an alternate route.

Snow will affect all of srn WI this morning. The snow will be briefly moderate to heavy resulting in lower visibilities and rapid slushy accumulations of snow. This is the first significant snowfall of the season. Remember your winter driving skills and slow down!
#swiwx
Chill! Never escalate and don't react to another driver's rage. If you encounter an aggressive driver, move over to the slow lane, slow down, and separate yourself from them. Be a courteous driver, leave space and let people merge. It's too cold for hot headed drivers.
Drivers AND motorcyclists must do their part to keep our roads safe.
🚗Drivers – look twice before pulling out from a stop sign/turning left/changing lanes
🏍️ Motorcyclists – get properly licensed, wear protective gear, scan ahead for hazards.

You may notice flashing green lights on snowplows as winter maintenance crews clear roads today. The green lights create a greater contrast to improve visibility. Please give plow drivers space to get the job done.

It's a terrible spell we are under! 🎃🧙♀️🌨️ In these winter conditions please be sure the seat belt is buckled and drive for the conditions. That means slow down, leave additional following distance and clear all the snow from your windows, headlights and taillights, and rooftop.
Keep your eyes on the road ahead and take action when you see warning lights of any color. Wisconsin's Move Over Law requirements apply to law enforcement vehicles, ambulances, fire trucks, tow trucks, utility or highway maintenance vehicles.

Drowsy driving kills. Sleep deprivation is a major cause of vehicle crashes. It can impair the human brain the same way as inebriation. Don't drive yourself to sleep. Get enough rest the night before a trip and take frequent breaks. For more information:
