What did you do differently for Step 2/Level 2 in comparison to Step 1/Level 1? Personally I’m focusing more on UWORLD questions and listening to Divine this time. Much less resources but still getting repetition of concepts.

One thing about medicine is we will hold onto stigma like our life depends on it — whether it’s stigma associated with mental health, board failure, SOAPing, pregnancy during residency, DO bias, etc.

Anyone that’s starting OBGYN clerkships should do the UWORLD questions as well as uWISE (written by APGO). I didn’t learn about uWISE until the last week of my rotation, wouldn’t have done well on the shelf exam without that added resource!

I only applied to 12 medical schools. I got 3 interviews - 1 MD & 2 DO. My stats were average for MD students. I worked 3 work-study jobs while taking an MCAT prep course my school gave me scholarship for. Debate all you want about MD/DOs, I worked very hard to be in medicine.

This is EXACTLY what the talk is amongst my classmates. I think a lot more people will be dual-applying tbh. In my opinion the best solution is med schools changing rotation schedules so that students’ dedicated and step 2 results are received before VSLO apps open.

Saw a patient today who was born with Corpus callosum dysgenesis and had involuntary movements on one extremity that mimicked voluntary movements of the opposite limb. One of the coolest neuro exams I’ve ever seen!

DO bias is very real especially with Step 1 going P/F. This is a large group of US medical students who are dealing with the repercussions of a broken medical school admissions system. It’s gotten much better than 10-20 years ago, but there is still a lot of work to do.

If you have a patient who is struggling to lose weight because of poor diet — mushrooms 🍄. Tell them to substitute the red meat with white or portobello mushrooms. Doesn’t require as much oil to cook and it is comparatively filling. Low fat and carb substitute 👌🏼
