Matt 24:21 says there is a "great tribulation" coming that is something worse than anything that came before in world history, or anything afterwards. Yes, that would mean it is worse than the flood of Noah's day. Could 70 AD really fit this bill? I think not.

King Saul was in disobedience to the Lord, but he was still the Lord's anointed one. Similar to Israel today. They may not be believing, largely, but they are still God's chosen nation, and one day God will restore them spiritually.

@chris_jolliff I think 4:1 helped me out alot recently. In chs. 2-3, you have 7 mentions of the universal church as you just referenced. Then you have the statement, "I will show you what must take place after these things" (Rev 4:1). If ch. 4 is after the church, then the church is absent.

The ceasing of sacrifices in Dan 9:27 cannot refer to the death of Christ. Because if it is, then that means Christ would need to die 3.5yrs after the 69th week. That is unworkable under every viewpoint I am aware of on the 70 weeks prophecy.
