Many times over the years I have asked for ancient references to lend some authenticity to this theory. Nothing has ever been presented. Something from 300 BC to AD 300 is preferable, but even something from the Masoretic era would be useful. In fact, even something from Maimonides (Rambam) or one of his contemporaries in the Medieval ages would have some weight.
