@jvveenvliet @mpicbg @PoLDresden @YaleGenetics @TheCrick @SumitGarai9 @DominicaCao @royalsociety Hope I didn't lose the original thread... wouldn't it be cool if we kept the term mutation for changes to genetic sequence, and start calling the resulting cell/organism 'monstrous'? reading these (not so) old papers, scientific terminology lost a lot of panache in recent years

As @prashantgmali once so beautifully put it, the harnessing of CRISPR was a great moment for the democratization of science... Everyone can now manipulate the genome. I'm increasingly uncomfortable with how regressive single-cell technologies are :(

A real gem from the @kalhorlab ! Pre-print of their amazing spatial transcriptomics of structurally intact thick tissue. Demonstrated for the hair follicle they take advantage of its reproducibility for temporal reconstruction. Beautiful stuff🔥🔥

@AMartinezArias @arjunrajlab This would definitely be the most logical distinction between type and state. But what do we do when function isn't apparent? Or along the continuum of embryogenesis? Systems papers I've been reading certainly have their own take on this
