@Emile2009 The business cards existed already in Han, called '谒' made of wood. Later known as'刺'. In Tang and Song, called '门状'&'手本', evolved into paper. Ming & Qing called'名刺' & '名帖'. They are used for self-introduction, pretty much like today! (pic is a Qing ivory card case!)

If George Lucashenko was born in the USSR he'd have been a GOAT director. Untouchable. Five "Hero of Socialist Labour" accolades awarded by Brezhnev. Panicking CIA agents trying to edit the greatness out of "Kosmo Voyny (1977)" before it gets shown to Americans.
I love how George Lucas on the very first day of writing the phantom menace instead watched silent movies on vhs while shaking his head saying “how??”

What most people get wrong about premodern and especially medieval art is that it often has more in common with text or a map than modern art. What youre looking at here is a symbol for Babylon, not a 1:1 representation like we expect today.

My first landlady in Beijing mildly inconvenienced me by having 3 repairmen all come on one day, so she gave me about 10kg of fruit and bought me the largest possible mattress to replace the old one. I was sleeping 360 degrees for 2 full years.
Has anyone ever actually had a good landlord? And I don't mean "well, I never really heard from them so they were never a problem", that's an absent landlord. I mean a good one.

This entire aesthetic is half the reason I love drawing cross-shaped compositions of characters staring directly at the viewer. I listen to a lot of hiphop and most of the albums i like have covers where it's just guys sizing you up
Did some digging and found out that these two Patrick Bateman lookin ahh brothers designed over 19,000 iconic hiphop album covers in the 2000s, but then a combination of napster and 9/11 tanked their business, which is why those albums virtually vanished after 2003

Ethiopian Religious art is probably the oldest unbroken style in the world, with an almost straight line back to to the 11th century and remarkable similarity to Europe despite mutual isolation. You even get the use of contemporary weapons in biblical scenes (a musket here).

Fantasy worldbuilding is constrained by needing to make immediate sense to the reader, so no matter how well written or supernatural a setting is, it's always going to be less interesting than real history.
Give me your Fantasy hot takes that have you like this. Mine is your morally gray characters aren’t more interesting, they’re just more murderous

"Be informed, O Prince, the non-believers are literally in hell right now, and whoever approaches them literally burns himse-". "MISTAH ABDUL FAIL, YOUR SILENCE WAS MORE FROITFUL THAN YOUR SPEECH. I WISH GOD HAD FOINISHED YOU WITH DUMBNESS, THEN WE WOULD BE QUITE AT EASE"
In 1165 Saladin set up a debate between a Catholic Monk and three Sunni Jurists, and it ends with the monk trolling a jurist into accepting the Trinity, Saladin laughing at him, and another jurist interjecting that he won only for Saladin to tell him to shut up
