Carry a 1911 chambered in .45ACP or 10mm. Both are heart stoppers. As you can clearly see here, 9mm nor 40mm seem to cut it.

If you carry a hand gun, carry it with a round chambered. The seconds you take to rack the slide could kill you. As the saying goes; Cocked, locked, and ready to rock. I carry my 1911 in condition one and always have.

Back in the 70s I did. Model 28 Highway Patrolman. .357 6" barrel and it came with the wood grips and some kind of rubber grip. That was a hell of a gun. Sold it years later to a police chief of a small town. He's still got it to this day. Betty Lu's the second pic.

So Glock is the clear number of parts winner here but it's not a 1911. End of story for me. If a Glock were lying on the ground, sure I'd pick it up and use it. But if the nicest Glock were in a gun store next to a 1911 of any make in any condition, I'd take the 1911.
