Exciting news! Two armoured dinos - Oondasta and Horridon - are tameable in Patch 8.2 Rise of Azshara. Both are the first of their models to be tameable and they look terrific!

The Zian-Ti Cloudbreaker is now tameable, in Island Expeditions!
It's the only black cloud serpent with a striking red sheen effect, which is contrasted here with a black serpent with blue sheen in the background.

- 4 eyebrow types
- 4 ear types
- 2 antler types
- 3 tail lengths

Coming in TWW: Fetid Devourer from Uldir raid is tameable as a Hydra. It keeps its name.
It's not technically a hydra as much a beast that uses the same skeleton, but it's as good an approximation as any 🤷♂️
Taming it locks you in its room. Only way out is to hearth/port.

TWW Beta: Raid boss Grong is tameable (as a Gorilla) - the first time his unique model has been available!
He also keeps his name.
Unfortunately, with raid faction restrictions he's Horde-only.
Instead, Alliance can tame his undead version, but I can't test that right now.

I have direct info from a designer that they tested the model, but its somewhat extreme dimensions just didn't work well as a pet.

Unfortunately we still haven't found any trace of the Simple Tome of Bone-Binding in the House of the Chosen, or anywhere else in Maldraxxus.
Due to confusion, we suspect it might actually be at House of the Chosen Total Landscaping in Ardenweald.

Hunters who are Night Fae (only) now have a ONE-TIME chance to tame this stunning spectral-magenta cobra: Shadow of Dambala. It only appears in a non-repeatable, solo-phased quest offered at renown level 8: "Cleansing the Forest". Tame it when you can!

What a great pet for a Forsaken hunter!
Skeletal raptors (and other undead pets) are tameable by Forsaken in SL, by default. Other hunters may need to find a tome. This particular one is the rare, Sarltooth, who is the only skele raptor with this stunning steel grey colour.

Occasionally, a beast is mistakenly flagged tameable that Blizzard didn't actually intend as a hunter pet.
Our policy is that these things will always be reported. Blizzard staff have been very good to us and we try to maintain an exchange of openness & trust.

Opinion:
3-4 short term mounts going away at the same time, plus a bunch of other expiring content, is turning what is usually a really fun time at the end of an expansion into a collector feelbad FOMO stressfest.
I don’t believe this is healthy game design.
The Frostblood Proto-Wyrm will no longer become obtainable when Dragonflight launches on November 28th.

Also, brambleback bears & thornbuck stags, but we've run out of time to test them.

This looks like a last-minute change that slipped by us, but it's a very welcome one!
Low-level exotics can once again be tamed by young BM hunters while the're adventuring, including in starting zones that become unreachable later.

Petopian WerebearGuy also just demonstrated that it's still possible to level to 39 in the Pandaria starting zone and tame the Guardian of the Elders (which keeps its name). He used a combination of mining and daily pet battles, but it's still a pretty insane achievement!

Very excitingly, cloud rooks are now tameable!
The Docile Cloudrooks on Sunken Shield (off the SE coast of Dorn) can now be tamed and come in all 3 colours.
The 3 possible colours are shown below.
Okay, cloudrooks may not have the widest colour range, but they're very pretty!

I love these weird dreamtalons! They're like a bipedal cat. Currently classed as a Raptor, but that feels weird, regardless of the skeleton.

A gorgeous spectral pet coming in the pre-patch. The Ephemeral Runner has been in Invasion Point: Bonich since Legion but is only now becoming tameable. More than just transparent, it has an orange glow and subtle red mist effects.

Blizz should let warlocks tame demons the same way hunters tame their pets (or perhaps by killing them and dominating some lingering soul remnant?) . Same abilities as the stock set up but more fun when it comes to aesthetics without glyphs or talents.

the Murkfur Alpha is a black & tan bakar that also has spiky fur.

"Lesser Dragonkin" are upcoming tames in Dragonflight. These include hornswogs and cloud serpents (an odd pairing!)
They are Ferocity, use Claw, and have a special new ability: "Shimmering Scales", which provides protection from magic for 8 sec.

Zone content that requires a large group is great for encouraging community engagement. But its downside is that it becomes nearly impossible once participation levels drop, and often remains that way until the next expansion. Weren’t lucky in getting that pet to drop? Too late.

We bee beeside ourselves with sadness. It turns out Beehemoth is no longer tameable, as she's level 122 (she was 120 on the Beeta). So there bee no black bees tameable (that we bee aware of). We bee terribly sorry :(

These ice cream bears are two of the hardest looks to find and tame in Dragonflight.
To tame them you need a skinner with Elusive Creature Bait - and a lot of perseverance!

The new textures remain very faithful to the originals and don't represent major changes - just higher resolution, less flat, more detail. Lovely work, whichever artist was responsible! 💚

Check out these magnificent jade turtles, with metallic bronze shells and burgundy skin - new tameable in 10.1.5!
These Un'Gorian Protoshells found in Thaldraszus, on a cliff shelf just south of Tyrhold. Until now, this was the only unavailable stone turtle appearance.

So there are no sudden surprises...
If you tamed the Vorquin Foal, you'll find it becomes an adult vorquin in 10.1.5.
This pet was an unintended tame as it uses a baby vorquin model. The NPC was later made untameable, but hunters who tamed the foal got to keep it till now.

In Dragonflight, the "Crane" family has been renamed to "Waterfowl" and will encompass the new duck model.
These ducks are tameable in 5 colours, all from the Uktulut (tuskarr) village.
