We Heart Seattle is a boots-on-the-ground, grassroots coalition who clean the city & provide outreach as a direct action strategy to supplement current methods.

Such an honor for We Heart Seattle volunteers to be recognized and validated by Council D7 Member Bob Kettle and President Sara Nelson. Huge shoutout to Christopher Williams at Seattle Parks & Recreation for supporting us from the beginning.

We loaded a 40 yard dumpster today and did outreach under I5- 10,000 lbs removed by volunteers and the folks living here. This is a call to action to volunteer and restore our city and save lives along the way.

Today there is one less homeless person in Ballard.

My neighbor was just randomly punched on 2nd and Wall. Please be safe out there. There are a lot of folks walking to the Kraken game enjoying Helltown … I mean Belltown. Public Safety is on the top of voter’s minds and ballots are due 11/7. We are down 600 + officers and people
This was the most disturbing boneyard of tragedy I have witnessed yet. Formally a RV Camp along I5 and along the rail. I can’t find the words but the feeling stuck with all of us today. And oh…

My own WTF moment when I ordered ten pounds of free government supplied drug paraphernalia to my home via a government supported website as an alias and NO recovery buckslip. I wanted to understand the supply chain of used needles in parks and the “needle exchange” program.
Jacob just released from detox came to our office today asking for long term in-patient care. He was eager to give his perspective on the deteriorating conditions of Seattle.

Gosh this article is so misleading … we all must bifurcate the need for lower income affordable housing and recovery housing solutions for the homeless depicted tying tents up to a fence here. Come walk with us Naomi and interview why people are on the streets, it’s drugs..btw
I was escorted into a major drug distribution mall today in downtown Seattle. 10 blue pills for $20, complimentary foil and a salon setting to use and meet others. Please get out and vote on November.
Please watch and share our urge to flex your civic superpowers and elect common sense, compassionate, public safety first leaders who will shape our city for the years to come. Local city council write and pass law that effect your back yard (keep/ remove graffiti or want more
Part of our 1000 registered volunteer crew cleared 5000 more pounds of debris this weekend from a hiking trail. We have saved the city of Seattle more than $20M in clean up + outreach + housing and detox funds with no acknowledgment. This is earth month 30k lbs will be removed.
The trash reveals the truth. Today we picked up 3500 more lbs of trash and several hundred needles in the NE Queen Anne Greenbelt that was several years old if not over a decade old in some cases. We have removed 1.2M pounds of trash since late 2020 with over 12,000 hours of
The only reason left at this point, after this much failure, is that they want it this way. You can't fail this badly and keep going without it being the desired outcome….What’s the solution? Educate yourself as a voter and choose leaders who have courage to change courses.
EXCLUSIVE: I spent a year investigating Seattle's "low barrier" homeless housing and uncovered a nightmare of drugs, crime, chaos, and death. But local lawmakers are doubling down, committing millions to failed "housing first" policies that only compound the problems.

Folks homeless, in transitional or PSH have joined our clean up team as volunteers. We offer basic need stipends for their participation. This is an excellent program and would
My friend Mike died this week of an overdose. I met Mike Matzick in 2020 where he lived in a tent on Bell Street. He drank beer only when we first met. He was the first person I housed after founding We Heart Seattle. He went to the brand new 24/7 enhanced shelter run by

You can point to a lot of reasons why so many people in Seattle live unsheltered. But here's the bottom line: The rents are too damn high, writes Naomi Ishisaka.
We found a stolen $150,000 valued contruction forklift in The Jungle today doing outreach + scouting a litter pick. Amazing what you find in the city and how it transforms public opinion on what's working vs. what's not....
@UnitedRentals
We are a private funded 501c3 😘
A group of small businesses asked us to come assess the situation and within 72 we restored the entire block with an intervention forward outreach model fueld with volunteer hands and feet. They reported this for more than 6 months to the government. Private funded = Results.

A lot of people ask if the “homeless” help us pick up the trash. Indeed they do and we offer $25 participation stipends which is a working model + outreach to take steps towards self sufficiency. Empower not enable. Today we cleared 2000 lbs trash in SODO.
Yesterday volunteers and paid leads came together to clear 4000 lbs of dry garbage and flammables from under I-5. Thank you Rotarians for choosing We Heart Seattle as your volunteer host for the day. We vote for the backyard we want by volunteering but we also need to vote! Why

Sadly libraries have become places homeless addicts go to charge their free phones so they can reach their lethal fentanyl drug dealer—— and 💩 because Seattle won’t fund the actual thing we need most which are public restrooms WITH attendents to clean and manage in and out
Happy Veterans Day! We cleared out 6500 lbs of trash today from a camp with full camper engagement. We lead with purpose and compassion. Get involved with boots on the ground, friction free, private funded clean + outreach result proven model!💚🙏🏼
Where does all the money go with often little to no improvement of public camps? We have been reporting for 2 years that people get housing but still like to keep their "chill tent" in the city parks. Being a private funded clean and outreach org allows us to tell this truth.
