The Oppressed almost always become the Oppressor once given power. It doesn’t even matter if their oppression is factual, all that matters is their narrative that they have been. Blatant example is the American Colonists.

Amazighs are the Berbers. The Imazighen are a diverse grouping of distinct ethnic groups that share a common cultural heritage and are indigenous inhabitants of North Africa, the Maghreb in particular. Many are still nomads to this day, but many settled down throughout history.

Real, I like that period of time too. Very fascinating archaeologically. In that timeframe you have the rise of the Yamato, fall of Western Rome, the migrations of the Turks and Magyars, the rise of Islam, even funky Hunnic Germans in Thuringia. Cool stuff.

The only people who considered themselves religious were members of the Shinto clergy, Buddhists who only followed Buddhism (rare), Christians, etc. That sixty something percent of “nonreligious” still go to temples to pray, they have Shinto weddings, and Buddhist funerals.
