the goal is to get rich so that when im super old (like 25) i dont have to grind and i can retire and take care of my lawn and feed ducks and other old people things
once you realize that programming is simple, and that complexity lies within abstraction (a double edged sword), the more angry you will get at cpp devs
close to done with the UI at this point, and the db is up to ~100,000 indexed panels across 1,350 chapters and counting..
drop your favorite manga so i can index it
a message to all firefox users: firefox is dumb and it sucks. use a SERIOUS browser that actually WORKS and is CONSISTENT with web standards and doesn’t have weird flexbox behavior
@ludwigABAP
its crazy how people are asking "what language do i learn" before they ask "why do i want to code" which is a far more important question imo since it will be the driving motivator for you to keep learning
@MomentumOp89
everyone memes about how being over 20 makes you old, but on a serious note i tend to think that the "average" 12 year old learning compsci probably wont be nearly as efficient or focused as someone later in life who can draw on so much more life experience. learning is itself a
dont think of web dev as slop frontend, think of it as the way you present your craft to the world. it can be a gateway to great functionality, or a hindrance that users have to overcome. thats up to you
btw, finally built a personal website ()🤩
I'll be posting blog posts, random notes about things i've learned, progress reports, useful bookmarks, and more!
Curious to hear your thoughts below.
any job that mentions a specific language and/or framework is probably not a job you want. remember the goal is to be an engineer not walking documentation for a specific tool/technology
@graffioh
im not saying its useless or that im opposed to leetcode problems just that ive never had a job that required it, and ive always found building real things to be far more rewarding
i know its crazy, but you actually dont need that massive AWS pipeline spanning 10 different products that ops spent 3 months building just to serve 1k requests/day
still a WIP but LeetAnime is almost done.
last major thing to do before release is collecting a ton of anime screencaps & manga panels.
might also add a some leaderboards too ;)
been getting DMs recently about how to get into cs. its a topic that's been thoroughly explored at just about every level but i still might do an in-depth writeup of not just how to learn but also how to teach cs since ive been guiding/teaching my roommate for ~3 months now
for everyone writing an API in python, use instead of fastapi or whatever slop you were going to use.
its flask-like, asynchronous, supports multi-processing, has built-in openapi docs & cors headers support, etc.
and so it begins.. FOSS windows recall.
looks rough atm but I'm focusing on the internals for now. still have to figure out the best way to compress + OCR + embed + store everything reasonably.
