Medical emergency on a flight, partner and I (physicians, no EtOH drinks) opted to help, EM physician present (several drinks in, fully disclosed) offered background help. His guidance was helpful and transparency honorable. We are human and I stand by this physicians decision.

They have sent many emails checking in with all of the residents, faculty, nurses, APPs ect. and have send us resources for mental health and wellness. Perhaps they are respecting the privacy of the family and beloved colleague who has lost his life by not publishing publicly.

Imposter syndrome is real, but I just spent the last 7 nights alone managing 45 burns patients, 10 of which are in the ICU, and all of them are stable and healing. I can officially say I’m proud of myself.

As an only child who doesn’t know what it’s like to have siblings, I do feel like the people who I went through 4 years of general surgery residency (and counting) with and I have that bond.
