Medical emergency on a flight, partner and I (physicians, no EtOH drinks) opted to help, EM physician present (several drinks in, fully disclosed) offered background help. His guidance was helpful and transparency honorable. We are human and I stand by this physicians decision.
Turns out, it’s best to repeat non-diagnostic biopsies for suspected pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Stay tuned for the paper to hear about what’s best for PNET!

They have sent many emails checking in with all of the residents, faculty, nurses, APPs ect. and have send us resources for mental health and wellness. Perhaps they are respecting the privacy of the family and beloved colleague who has lost his life by not publishing publicly.
It’s a great honor to have been presented the Mayo Clinic best research paper award by the PI of the project herself

for our paper on Phenotypes of primary hyperparathyroidism: Does parathyroidectomy improve clinical outcomes for all?
Imposter syndrome is real, but I just spent the last 7 nights alone managing 45 burns patients, 10 of which are in the ICU, and all of them are stable and healing. I can officially say I’m proud of myself.

Turned 30 yesterday, is it bad that the thing I'm most excited about is that I can finally say "I'm in my 30s" when patients tell me I look too young to be a Dr?
As a young physician, I get asked my age A LOT by my patients / their family members. I often get something along the lines of “well you look like you could be in high school”. Anyone else dealing with this? How do you address it when you want them to take you seriously?
Parathyroid carcinoma is a rare malignancy with few intraoperative adjuncts to help guide resection. Check out our findings with ioPTH as an adjunct and how it affects long-term outcomes!

Dear medical students, if your resident says you can go home because there's nothing going on, it is NOT a test. And if it is, then you shouldn't care for that person's opinion anyways.
I am excited to be the nighttime senior for the month of July! Second year in a row that I get to welcome and teach the new interns at night.
What do you wish your senior had taught you (or what do you wish they had done differently)?
As an only child who doesn’t know what it’s like to have siblings, I do feel like the people who I went through 4 years of general surgery residency (and counting) with and I have that bond.
Thanks for consistently putting up with me!

I remember as a medical student seeing all of the residents get excited to see their old med school classmates at conferences. I must say, it's more exciting than I ever imagined! I love catching up with old friends and seeing how successful they have become
Long flight back to Phoenix, but found this AMAZING video. Thank you to whoever made this, an absolute lifesaver!

My personal opinion: intern year things get harder, but after that SO much better. Your hard work and knowledge make meaningful differences in the management of patients. Stay strong!
I recently experienced the patient family member side of the healthcare world. A good reminder that the people we treat are often going through the hardest times of their life, and to always meet them with compassion
Started the week off strong! Not sponsored as a part of the
