Hey @aeyakovenko, I was just able to watch your debate with @drakefjustin. At last point you claim that Solana is still 10x cheaper than L2s. Yesterday, Base was 3.33x cheaper on median fees and 7.95x cheaper on avg fees than Solana. Just FYI.

I donât know how Toly doesnât see it. But itâs very simple:. 1- L2s are profitable. 2- Due to 1, L2s will do everything they can to bring the world onchain. 3- Any L2 that doesnât use ETH as base currency will go to L2 graveyard. 4- If we even get to hundred millions using ETH.
This is a mind virus, destroy this part of the brain:. âL2s increase the monetary premium of the shared economic security asset. This is good engineering that everyone should be trying to replicate and beat:. â
Ethereum has 4 clients and a massive pos network, so its impossible.

So highly optimized Solana cluster with 40 nodes is able to max out at 32k tps for simple transfers. Simple transfers on EVM are 21000 gas, Nethermind did see 1415 mgas/s on mainnet state. That translates to 67k tps for simple transfers. That is with full MPT calculations and.
Xolana cluster maxed out. 40 Nodes, 32 stakes validators (all community nodes). (optimizations - voting thread hog fixed, banking threads at 24) @aeyakovenko

Another terrible take. Having more L2s is the only way to scale to billions. Parallel execution is not a solution for state contention and weâre seeing this live at Solana land. Having a single state is same as having a single core cpu. When you have L2s you have multi core and.
Strongly believe Ethereumâs endgame should be one giant rollup with parallel execution. Long tail of appchains is fine, but short-tail is best served by one parallelized execution environment that resembles Solana. The longer it takes to get here, worse off Ethereum will be.

@Christophepas I first read right one and after left one, after reading right first, left felt a lot faster. I wonder if thereâs a bias towards reading left first in test subjects which results in feeling the called effect.

@aeyakovenko @_weidai So when my mac uploads files to icloud and stores only descriptors on my computer to save space, itâs compression? . âApple Compressionâ.

@aeyakovenko @_weidai Thatâs marketing for users not devs, devs should/must know whats actually happening under the hood. Solana marketing just doesnât want to use the word ârollupâ because previous marketing was shitting on rollups relentlessly. đ.

@_weidai @aeyakovenko Compression is definitely misleading word of choice. I donât understand what is the reasoning? I mean, you want to have devs external to your ecosystem to come and build stuff but youâre using wrong terms to confuse them⌠weird choices.

Strongly against ENS choosing any L2s. If ENS have to be migrated to an L2 either it should be its own L2 or not migrate at all. And if it does migrate it should not choose any stack from an existing ecosystem and build its own. ENS is a crucial component of Ethereum and it.
Introducing ENSv2: The Next Generation of ENS đđđ. ENS Labs is excited to announce our proposal to extend the ENS protocol to a Layer 2 network. This move isn't just about migrating parts of the protocol; we're re-envisioning the architecture from the ground up!

Thereâs a play that could be made by Coinbase that both scares me and excites me. They can subsidize Base fees fully up to 10 transactions per day, for a single wallet linked with Coinbase account. (1 to 1) And this might be coming just after Dencun. Wdyt?.@jessepollak.

@Austin_Federa @cburniske @aeyakovenko Okay, you made me check the dune query. The query use a very naive approach to separate base fees and priority fees. While I agree with @aeyakovenko that there should be more experiments in blockchain design space, I humbly suggest that:. 1- You should be open and transparent with your design choices. - What corners did you cut to achieve your goals. - Where do you position yourself in.
@TrustlessState Alt L1s have the privilege and opportunity to do all the things ethereum canât. Given that 4 years since solanaâs launch eth + all of its L2s still donât account for much overall load in crypto, itâs been worthwhile to explore all the other design options.

In systems engineering, when you don't optimize for the worst case you end up implementing quirky solutions like SWQOS. Not having proper fee mechanism to handle congestions leads you to shift fee payments from users to Apps (through RPCs). RPC providers now ask exorbitant.

I recently became an advisor to the EigenFoundation. I feel the community deserves transparency so here is an extended disclosure :). 1) The advisorship comes with a significant EIGEN token incentive which could easily be worth more than the combined value of all my other assets.

Iâve been talking about this a lot. L2s have to switch away from L1 mentality on scalability: you donât need to be constrained by single box once you offload validation to your beloved L1. What this means? L2 ânodesâ are no longer a single machine but a cluster of machines that.
@ercwl state bloat is a crypto problem induced by our inability to think beyond 1 machine, true until very recently. in cloud where multi tenancy is a thing, storage is infinite and io is split across multiple machines.

@0xCygaar I'm planning to use some simple analogies to explain why Ethereum chose its current roadmap. Recently, I explained the rollup vision to a group in my native language. I used the analogy of the Supreme Court (L1) and district courts (L2s) to illustrate how this approach enhances.

Repeat after me: EIP-1559 is a UX upgrade and fee burn is the side effect.
@antiprosynth Interesting! Thanks for the correction. I'd still push against the idea that we should still be talking this much about EIP-1559 and burning, though. I wouldn't even reply the tweet w/o the growing sentiment that the "ETH burn" narrative is something that we could use less of.

One key difference between firedancer and reth is due to Ethereum having L2 landscape. FD cannot bring performance improvements to Solana because whole network will need to run at the slowest clientâs speed. However reth can and will bring performance improvements to Ethereum.

This is HUGE! 250MGas/s sustained roughly translates to 1445 TPS considering last month's average gas usage per transaction at all evm chains. This is not very meaningful for L1 but when we think about L2s, they will be able to push to these limits. So let's check how much

These results show that we need to rethink blob pricing. I think:. 1- blob target should be dynamic based on previous (x) slotâs blob usage and it should target total size instead of count. (currently targets 3 blobs = 384kb). 2- blob size should be also dynamic, 128kb proved.
New post "Blobs, Reorgs, and the Role of MEV-Boost" is live on EthResearch. One observation is that MEV-Boost users are less often reorged and can handle 6-blob-blocks way better than vanilla builders. Not surprising, but still good to confirm.

@0xMert_ @CryptoCraeg Mert you post these data related to transaction count/tps whatever every time someone talk about adoption. Why withdrawals are taking very long time from CEXs to Solana when the network is congested:. TLDR: Exchanges need to wait for 151 slots before retrying a withdrawal transaction. With the current average slot time of 471ms, each retry takes approximately 72 seconds. I've noticed.
On Solana congestion and âfailed transactionsâ:. (this post has been refined by ChatGPT; the original . draft version can be found in the replies). There are widespread misunderstandings linking "failed transactions" to network failures. It's important to recognize that all.

Unfortunately, it seems EOF is not happening in Pectra đ. I still think EOF is super important and we should delay Pectra to 2025 Feb-Mar if necessary and include EOF and PeerDAS in a mega fork. Verkle is a huge fork and it will require so much focus. @TimBeiko.
Itâs time! EOF âĄď¸ Pectra. âEOF simplifies compiler development - for us and in general - significantly, and evidence so far indicates that we can expect improvements in all applicable metrics. I can't overstate EOF's benefits in decreasing the overall complexity of code.

@0xMert_ @CryptoCraeg No, what I'm trying to tell is simple, raw transaction count is not a metric of adoption. @chainyoda Itâs not hard to see what are the most important verticals going forward. - execution.- zk proofing. BigCrypto VCs are quite smart, they see the end game and they play. Most think that L1 investments are for the chain itself, itâs actually an investment to the teams that excels.

@aeyakovenko @0xMert_ First let me correct your calculation (not that it's super important):. With the current usage, a hardware that can have relatively low skip rate costs around $500 to $700. But that doesn't account for the bandwidth. AFAIK, a medium stake validator on Solana uses 350mbit to.

@0xCygaar I threw into GPT4o, not bad translation. đ Here:. Let me explain why Ethereum chose a rollup-centric roadmap instead of a monolithic architecture, using an analogy. Think of blockchains as courts. In this analogy, Layer 1 (L1) is like the Supreme Court, while Layer 2 (L2).

I hope we could stop talking about what tradfi thinks, do or execute but envision what future will look like. Provenance and uniqueness will be the only important traits that human will be left with when every repeatable process will be done by non-humans. Once weâre there,.
Many TradFi giants will prefer $ETH over $BTC because it's a productive asset with tangible utility and better SoV fundamentals (deflationary + yield). JP Morgan, Vanguard and BlackRock have already signaled this sentiment. These guys will drive mainstream narratives about.

@ArthurB @zengjiajun_eth IMO in 10 years, all rollups will be ZK and will commit blocks with finalized state roots to L1 every slot. It will take a lot of infrastructure and prover optimization to get there, but that's the clear endgame.
