Base and OP Labs successfully activated the Ecotone hardfork on their respective Goerli devnets, and today enabled posting of batches via EIP-4844 blobs. Here's the Base goerli-devnet batcher, you can see recent transactions are "type 3" (== Blob type).
I've been known to dabble in cryptocurrencies since the days you could mine Bitcoin on a GPU, and I have to say

Harvard may as well start a degree program in sociopathy. Would be interesting to know how many of these were accepted based on their merits as opposed to "charitable contributions" from their parents. Kushner's lack of qualifications are well documented. How about the others?
1/ Last week I wrote I was pretty confident we could double Base's execution throughput without any issue, but also noted we wanted to more than "pretty confident" before making any moves. Well now are!
With YOUR help we’ve just passed the $800,000 mark!
Will you rush a contribution right now to help us reach our $1 million goal?
Thanks so much!

What does this mean for you? When Dencun activates on Ethereum mainnet this ~March, OP Stack chains like Base and OP Mainnet can take advantage of blob space, bringing healthy reductions in transaction fees to all users.
@HurdOnTheHill
Ignoring the both siderism in your follow up tweet, thank you for doing the right thing. I'm sorry you'll now have to go through a hate-fest from the gullible and sycophantic fools so willing to defend Trump's every reprehensible statement.
We bought this. Why?
✓ We love new ways of doing things.
✓ We respect innovative brands.
✓ It was a really good deal.
We also paid in USDC and saved
@LiquidDeath
$12K in middleman fees.
So here’s the $500,114 question:
What do we put on the boxes for 200M people to see?
And it's live!
The gas target has been increased by 50% (to 3.75 mgas/s), with plans to increase it further early next week
One small step in a larger effort to reduce fees on Base
Today is the beginning of a new era.
✅ The first open source, permissionless, feature-complete fault proof system in the Ethereum ecosystem.
✨Fully permissionless proposals and withdrawals are now live on OP Sepolia.

True, Trump can at least blame his psychopathy and apparent dementia. It's not like it wasn't obvious he was a bumbling con man from the start. The rest of the GOP propping him up are just protecting their own careers at the expense of the country.
@davidmweissman
Like the Obama birth certificate nonsense, no proof will ever be good enough anyway. These people are just trying to sow doubt and spread misinformation. Hope you are blocking them without hesitation.
web2 is broken. Seems every service uses the same or similar algos to flag suspicious URLs, and if yours ends up on the wrong side of the classifier (no matter how legit), your'e going to have a bad time.

@kylegriffin1
You can't leave the cult without being punished. There's a limit even to the gullibility of Trump supporters, so they have to resort to threats and harassment to keep folks from jumping ship.
6/ This is just the beginning of an aggressive scaling effort. Alongside increasing target throughput, we’re working managing state growth, increasing Ethereum L1 data availability, and further execution scaling. Stay tuned for more! (end)

Many of us "senior practitioners" who are bullish on the space now work in the space. That shouldn't come as a surprise nor should it disqualify our opinions.
Betteridge's law of headlines applies here folks! I was on these calls. There was/is some healthy disagreement over how to proceed over some issues around the edges of the withdrawals proposal, but this is how community-driven software development works.
Should be fixed now... the bridge contracts bump up gas usage under load which wallets weren't properly estimating. Hardcoded a higher gas limit. There are still some other limits that could still get hit -- people (& bots?) are bridging like mad it seems.

The only problem with impeachment was the Republican senate refusing to convict. If Trump were out we might actually have someone competent in charge during this Trump virus crisis.
4/ These results made us comfortable with the following plan:
Starting tomorrow (3/27) we'll increase target throughput by 50% and observe the impact. If all goes well, we'll target another bump in throughput next week to get us to at least double today's target.
Your wealth is represented by bits in the centralized databases of rent-seeking institutions whose shareholders demand they charge you exorbitant costs for accessing it. Just had to pay $220 and jump through several hoops to wire the ~$2000 required to pay off my mortgage.
@zlj517
Hey, I realize Trump is easily swayed by this kind of ass kissing, but trying to get on the good side of Trump by being even more racist than he is seems like a losing strategy.
Why is Ethereum’s Dencun upgrade a big deal? How will it impact the L2 landscape? What’s next on the Base roadmap?
Join our convo with the Base team tomorrow (Tuesday, March 19th), where we’ll discuss all things Dencun and Base.
There's an idea floating around in Ethereum rollup land about replacing the transaction signature data posted to L1 by an optimistic rollup with a zk-proof that signatures were verified in order to save some L1 data space. See for ex.: from

Because you're nothing but a spineless sycophant of Trump. You've allowed your party to become beholden to a malignantly narcissistic con man. You know as well as anyone that this won't end well, no matter how much you try and shift blame. You'll be on the wrong side of history.

Thread on setting gas prices for transactions on Optimism Bedrock chains (including Base). These chains are parameterized in a way where base fee can rise rapidly under load spikes, particularly when base fees are very low to begin with. [1/n]
"But ser why do we need another rollup?"
@sreeramkannan
riffs on this topic in this recent interview. Tl;Dr: scalable data availability layer + *multiple* chains that roll up to L1 yields unlimited scaling without compromising on security.

They seem extremely worried about the fact that Trump supporters are becoming more and more embarrassed to support him. I mean they damn well should be ashamed, but it's still a good sign!
There is so much innovation going on in the area of fault & validity proving for rollups. This is why the OP Stack from
@optimismFND
has a modular proving architecture that allows the best tech to be plugged in as it becomes available and appropriately vetted.
Didn't take long for Base execution fees to start dominating transaction costs! Lots of new chain activity. Time to get to work on scaling execution....
@TimOBrien
You would think these ridiculous attempts to reframe Trump's disastrous business dealings as something else entirely would test the limits of his base's gullibility, but apparently their gullibility has no bound.
PSA: we are likely moving forward with adding blob sidecar inclusion proof for Deneb. The PR and some implementors' notes. Last-minute feedback is welcome

I get that .. and your anecdata is naturally biased by your strong publicly stated viewpoints. As for my world, I talk to 3-4 senior candidates every week, most coming from outside the space. I see no shortage of interest from across the industry.
I've been personally involved in formulating and enforcing many of the data-handling policies used by Google's ads teams, and more recently by its cloud organization. Google should better publicize all it does, otherwise it will keep getting lumped in with Facebook's misdeeds.

Since our testnet launch, we’ve connected with incredible builders and watched their projects thrive on Base.
Now it’s time to take the next step: Base mainnet is now open for builders.
Coinbase received a Wells notice from the SEC. After years of asking for reasonable crypto rules, we're disappointed that the SEC is considering courts over constructive dialogue. But if courts are required, so be it. We'll defend the rule of law. 1/15

Nice to be able to attend a scientific conference in person again. This is my first (in person) conference in the blockchain/web3/crypto-currency space, and blown away by the caliber of the research.

Above all we must not blame the white-nationalist rhetoric and dog whistles from the Whitehouse. That can't possibly have anything to do with the rise in these sorts of attacks. Sarah Sanders said so herself, and she never lies.

Would love to see a coherent and self contained exposition on all the Eth scaling work. Right now it's so very scattered and rather inaccessible to all but those who are deeply engrossed. We need to bring more people into the developing vision which is coming together.

@jessepollak
Yeah that's a good way to put it. And as much as the Ethereum rollup vision aligns with our goals for Base, there are plenty of applications with more specific needs that are well served by something lighter. So I'm excited to see your progress w/ Avalanche subnets/AVM/ HyperSDK!
Incredible progress post 2010, much of which was jump-started by the breakthroughs around scaling up deep convolutional neural networks that came out of the ImageNet tasks. Many of the pioneers here were working at Google in some capacity.

3/ In this benchmarking, we evaluated what 2x and 3x gas target increases would look like from a node operation perspective. We saw some elevated CPU usage, but within comfortable thresholds.
