This! Talking about @gnosischain, the first question I often get is, why aren't you an L2?. The notion that being an L2 is somehow more secure than a trustlessly connected L1 (zk light client bridge) is deep rooted and almost funnily wrong wrt sequencer decentralization.
I hope the ethereum community will hold L2s to the same (and preferably, higher) scrutiny and standards as alt-L1s.

Why is Gnosis so decentralized? We believe in the power of homestakers. Running a validator shouldn't be technically hard or capital intensive. This is how a relatively minor chain can end up with 20% the node count of Ethereum and offer credible neutrality at MUCH lower cost.
