$450m in ad spend since 2011: Credit Karma, Grove Collaborative, HelloFresh, Goodles, Oats Overnight, SunBasket, Who Gives A Crap, Native Path, Brigit, Backbone
by enlarging your perspective, the things you used to see as unattainable do shrink… and paradoxically become more possible than ever, paving the way for you to actualize your bigger “why”… which is what you wanted all along
you’re better off having an idea bigger than just making all the wifi money possible
the guys who were 1% marketers and affiliates 8 years ago (meaning they turned their visions of wealth into actual money) have graduated at least partially
saw Clickbank (responsible for many a lambo pfp) founder is on here
PhD in math (princeton)
Sold diff company for $640m few years back
Developed color-blindness treating glasses that cost $300
wrote a legitimately great book last year
dudes chillin on X with 900 followers
another dude - the most financially successful affiliate ever - took his offer money, bought one of the largest individual stakes in a public co, became a billionaire, copped a Gulfstream, owns farmland & chills. (he is on here with less followers than you btw and drives a sedan)
you think you need a lot to be happy until going through some real shit
and i don’t mean losing motivation or your dropshipping store getting DMCA’d
i spent 5 months not able to walk properly
3 lumbar herniations crushing the nerves by my spinal cord
23 hours a day in bed ⬇️
a former
#1
clickbank affiliate started a publishing company, got married, moved to the sticks. he still runs offers… but from a desk in his spare bedroom as he vibes.
he does not flex ROAS on his IG story because he’s in the real world, living a real life with his real wife
“edge” is often as simple as favorable treatment won via relationships (on anything - longer net terms, tighter SLAs, better pricing, faster anything)
it’s tough to have a fat moat on multiple skill based things
but many small operational edges, stacked, makes a very wide moat.
At a high level (when everyone is operating at a similar skill level)
If you operate on strategies, information, offers/products that everyone has access to
It's hard to expect an outlier result
Putting effort into having things (info, strategies, access, etc.) that others do
absolutist ideology erodes as experience builds you a balanced perspective that allows for nuance
⬇️ this take just isn’t true
tbh i don’t think i’ve worked 12hrs in a day ever (maybe college finals cramming)
it may work for this guy… but is by no means required. trust
needless fearmongering
“ya bro. i totally believe it. 24 months from now, the possibility of getting rich will be ZERO. no one will attain wealth after 2025”
lol
urgency can be a good thing, but think strategically not desperately. there has been and always will be opportunity
I have bad news for you.
The online game is too saturated and competitive for you to play it safe on the sidelines.
You must attack.
For the next 1-2 years, this is your window to get rich.
Focus and capture this opportunity before the ship sails.
You've been warned.
Doing a one day shoot with 4 creators and having your editor splice together 20 ads? Congrats, you’re at level 3/10 of creative testing
If the room & lighting, the filmer, the editor, the brief are the same… the ads are unlikely to FEEL different
I use the “shower glass” test
constantly thinking of how to extract cash and attention from internet eyeballs is addictive.
i have been there too.
it’s exciting to talk about, exciting to actually pull off, and exciting to turn it into more envy, more girls, and more toys.
Well thought out ≠ Complicated
Spent at least $1.5m on this ad for Grove Collaborative
10s of thousands of subscription conversions
The midwestern mommy blogger whose page we whitelisted through made multi six figs from her $8 affiliate payout
It just looks nice. Simple.
you might think you’ll never find something more rewarding to focus your attention on, because that vivid picture of having unlimited cash gives you something to strive toward while also building more belief in yourself as you succeed.
the underlying root of why you want what you want will change, and the natural consequence of that will be that the things you want most will become very different
even if you think you know your bigger reason, you probably have a yet-even-bigger “why” behind all of what you do
ask yourself what that might be - repeatedly if you need to.
once you find it, internet money becomes a thing you check off along the way
it won’t seem like an ineffable black box, just beyond reach, within which lie the sacred and forbidden arts of cyberspace wealth creation
that’s a powerful combination - it feels like a virtuous cycle that only strengthens you. you hope it will never end.
but think a couple layers deeper than the surface highlight reel
what else do you want?
good story
~10 years ago i didn’t know a single person in California but moved here anyway
got my early whales (SF startups) via Norbert-sourced emails
that (over years) turned into equity in unicorn IPOs & countless referrals
*quality* outreach can literally be worth millies
Posted this a couple years ago, but will reshare it. when I was 20, got hired by a multimillionaire to be his right hand.
Cold DM’d, he asked me to send this email after liking the dm, this is what I sent.
So easy to stand out. actually giving a fuck increases your “luck” 10x
you may feel that way now, but you’ll graduate. your desires will grow and i don’t mean adding another zero to your bank
i mean the “why” that drives what you THINK you need to feel peace of mind.
top flight rage bait but there’s a sliver of truth underlying every joke
thank my lucky stars that by age 15 i knew i’d never be a 9-5er
biggest first-world L there is
Had a really nice skip level with a new hire the other day where I explained to them that showing up and reliably doing their job without error and with a good attitude is a "C".
The ensuing silence was pretty palpable.
I followed up by sharing that a "B" is innovating within
asking yourself things like this clarifies your vision of the future and makes space for more meaningful desires.
if you’re stable on a 5-10 year timeframe, is another $50k day or coaching client or new offer going to be the most rewarding thing you can discover for yourself?
if an act objectively takes a lot of energy but you somehow feel energized after doing it… pay attention
it is feeding an important, ineffable part of you
seems to violate a law of thermodynamics, but favorably so…
this week marks 6 months since the surgery which gave me my life back (shoutout Dr Eastlack)
glad to have my physical health back but also grateful for the unexpected mindset shift
life just treats you better when you expect less from it
a daylong conversation with an old friend, 6 straight hours in the studio, first trip with your SO, teaching a protégé an arcane but essential technique, 200 burpees
these are all exhausting but they inexplicably leave you JUICED
find those things. do them as much as possible
“Dreams won’t actualize themselves. Life happens beyond the edge. You gotta dig deep and take the leap of faith”, says the second-year Deloitte assurance associate who spent three consecutive spring breaks in Mexico
great thread n discussion
two edges
- well oiled creative production treadmill
- understanding how to use manual bidding types effectively. requires more work and attention than auto bid but for the brands who have enough pixel signal to leverage it, there are legit advantages
Crazy update: We scaled our ad spend by 1,608% YoY— all while maintaining our target CPA.
No, that’s not a typo.
Plus, we did it profitably, with Cost Controls.
Here’s a deep dive into the playbook that dispels the myth that ‘Cost Caps can’t scale:’
i mean this authentically - today, i am fucking STOKED BEYOND DESCRIPTION to walk out my front door and stroll the beach
just moving around and taking in the world through a couple of my senses is literally an incredible thing
being happy just to live. as true as it is cliché
@BenskaminSGE
@runthenums
my opinion is learn copywriting (hand copy good ads and VSLs) and get surgical at teardowns of funnels from spy tools. essentially be able to explain why things that work work
@boldcen0
@apx_loot
@BowtiedJester
correct. scumbag. guy called himself “D-money” and burned everyone on nutra & rebills.
moves FAST at huge scale tho. can’t hate on skill. i audited Goli FB BM for potential VC acquirer few years back. >$19 million in one month. biggest i’ve ever seen.
u only gain lasting confidence by closing the gap between where u are today and what u believe you'd be if u actually gave it ur all
if ur lucky enough believe u can do anything, the only way 2 escape low self-esteem is to exist on the frequency needed to actualize ur self image
now, whether i actualize the external symptoms of accomplishment or not, i am simply glad to have the opportunity to vibe.
and ironically embracing the latter makes the former easier to do
@loom
you have possibly the most annoying bug on earth right now
1. start recording a Loom (Chrome extension) with camera off.
2. when i jump tabs within Chrome, it turns on and i have to kill + restart.
been this way for at least 2 months.
why does that happen
Is there a good plug-in/app/product that sits on top of
@elevenlabsio
?
1. Take multiple inputs (text blocks)
2. Generate the Elevenlabs output for each (with the same settings)
3. Have them available for preview in browser
4. One-click to batch download all
there’s a specific level of freedom where you actually escape time. i think a lot of people dream of it, consciously or not
it’s a combination of minimizing your needs and maximizing your money
@seeyounvr
impressive stuff dude
recently talked to Robbie Rankins agency who spends 150-250k a day on youtube, almost all nutra ecom. think he’s also in Medellin actually. familiar with him?
@bizstallion
there’s renegade blood and irreverence embedded in the culture. even the morning news anchors are like 45% hooligan vibes. when it’s applied with purpose you get some cool outcomes
As a Creative Director at Inceptly, the YT agency responsible for over $950M in direct response revenue, I've created our 2023 guide to creating high-performing direct response YouTube ads.

taylor’s pfp alone is cause for alarm
bet they made off with a lot more than 16m
FTC gets $16.3M judgment against entrepreneurs and their companies operating the "Sales Mentor" program, based on allegations of false earnings claims.
Last month alone, we spent over $7.6M & 1.9M during BFCM weekend for our Ecom clients & internal brand
In this thread, I covered:
> preparation phase & offer
> launch & pacing
> ad account structure & ads
> optimization & scaling
> learnings
that made that happen
Recap 👇
You may have heard (I did just over the weekend) that ASC+ w/ Cost Cap will be coming to Meta in the next week - 50% of the accounts will supposedly have it rolled out this week, with Meta anticipating 100% by October 2nd.For e-commerce brands, (1/32)

in the US, there is no city better for those with long term geographic freedom
ime affiliates often prioritize lifestyle and SD offers the best one of all
i made the same choice after living in DC, NYC, Chicago, SF, LA and various places
abroad. love it here will never leave

@seeyounvr
@jakemvrtinez
building relationships w networks, offer owners, affiliates
building teams (even if small)
building SOPs (even for junior team members)
building high output ad creative / LP generation processes
building an infrastructure that supports rapid validation / invalidation of tests
So
@DenneyDara
just released an *EPIC* video ranking the top 50 best ads from BFCM
Can you guess what all the best looking catalog ads had in common?
There's a reason why top retailers and DTC brands use
@Marpipe_HQ
for their catalog ads 💅
If someone saw each ad slightly blurred thru a shower glass door, would they know the ads are meaningfully different?
If not, it doesn’t count as a true creative test. Not polarized enough.
Polarized creative = the feel, the vibe, the visual fingerprint of the ad is distinct.
@tomxjmsn
agreed. saw recently “the scope of your surroundings affects the scope of your ideas” and while i don’t think it’s a direct proportion thing i think it’s correct. part of why i live on the beach
Violently intelligent data science PhDs built the newsfeed algo. Imagine every possible variable that goes into a 25sec video.
Not just format - but color distribution, text positioning inside the frame, how long before a face is shown, avg seconds per cut, camera panning, etc
@maybeWahed
phrasing / word ordering aside i don’t think it punches hard enough off the bat. 4th sentence in the body (87%) is prob better to shape into a headline tbh. just 1 anons opinion
@max_rosewater
@andrewjfaris
Let me get this straight. LC and CC are the same.
In LC, if you spend more, your ads show to more people.
And if you spend less, your ads show to the people who are most likely to convert at that spend.
Most megawhale pubco clients are for establishing legitimacy, not $ or learnings
Cisco took ~6mo to approve a 350 word enterprise wi-fi LP (whitepaper lander)
This was 1H 2015. IIRC minimum of 12 individual signoffs. >18hrs of group calls
Didn’t include ad creative & copy.
when they delivered my Portofino i would walk into my garage 6 times a day just to stare at it… thrilled and proud.
it felt awesome. the electricity that coursed through my veins was real.
but just because it’s real and exciting doesn’t make it necessarily meaningful
@binghott
@sourfraser
helps derisk bans for sure. the Tate method
this is far harder for brands to crack than it looks though. hundreds have tried and only a handful (such as Tabs) have made it a key piece of their acquisition puzzle.
most kids will flake or won’t produce conversion-optimized vids
sneaky sneaky way to boost the CTR
@XOXOmarshmallow
overlay “what’s this button at the bottom of your videos” up top
then show the jumbo tiktok CTA 2 seconds later
def stealing this
who runs this brand’s TT marketing?
@anatelorenzen
LMAO this is the marketing equivalent of the fda spending $600 million on a study to conclude that eating 3 apples a day is better than 3 donuts
@blaketiggy
i don’t think they don’t have skills. i know ashton works closely w eddie maalouf who is pretty legit to my knowledge
but damn i don’t know why it was so hard for them to not scam people… like just don’t scam people. it’s fairly simple
Did not think we would reach the point where every platform for sourcing UGC-style video is so flawed that the best option is actually Fiverr
But here we are
@zachmstuck
90%? questionable, as others have pointed out. and easy to derisk by asking.
solo buyers who outperform agency employees know their return on time is superior running whale accounts with significant incentive comp
these buyers were rare 5 years ago but not that rare today
hardest chapter so far without a doubt
the biggest lesson was that my threshold for existential pleasure dropped colossally
previously (meaning 18 months ago) a new girl or a Submariner or a fat wire transfer would get me giddy with joy.
@MoreThanMasses
@VaccineInhaler
@apx_loot
time spent on b-roll assembly should drop quickly and steadily as you assemble & organize your own stock libraries pertaining to specific verticals. less time in storyblocks / ISP.
also, one could hypothetically rip well known vsls and rip their b-roll sections for free
No dumbass, of course you don’t. Once you start telling people… the universe will ward them off like an evil spirit.
Don’t talk about it til they’ve signed AND paid
@imrayjohnston
depended on spend and cpa:budget ratio. when it was more liquid (>50/day or so per ad set) could rely on algorithm based shutoff.
some would occur as early as 9 or 10am.
for lower daily conv count/smaller spend accounts, manual checks or shut off across the board at X time
I know because I started out NOT as a creative director, but as someone building performance optimization algorithms that ran 24/7 squeezing ROAS out of multi 7 fig/month FB accounts.
The creative is the only real differentiator on FB (aside from temporary alpha in new features)
i was taking the important meaningful stuff for granted
and granting meaning to the unimportant stuff
the relative imbalance self-corrected QUICK once getting out of bed became a half hour ordeal. last thing on my mind was cars and watches
@imrayjohnston
tried this in ~15 tests over the years on 6-7fig/mo spend accts on FB.
for ecom, the performance benefit from pausing ads early (12-4pm) is much higher than limiting spend in wee hours.
early cuts have less of an effect with MAI campaigns
@seeyounvr
yep. the only brands i see win without this now are organic tiktok phenoms but for every 1 Tabs there’s 99 Luxfuls… because they’re just shifting the same critical content workload to affiliates who are effectively freerolling the algo
