@anthony_berndt @plasmidsaurus Haha whoops, no, read the search snippet too quickly. Marketing of a mutant that reads dU implies wild type does not!

Is de-extinction actually a thing just because synthetic biologists want to screw around and make weird animals and this way they can pass it off as totally fine and normal and not worrying?
Researchers are trying to "bring back" the thylacine, or Tasmanian tiger, a species that has not been officially recorded since 1936.

@anthony_berndt It's interesting to me how many assays work in this way: sure you can find out the answer, so long as you basically already know what it is

@Spiffypip @RichardHanania Are you suggesting the incidence of schizophrenia would be different between people of similar ages who go on to a PhD vs stop at a master's (the matched cohorts)?

@rsnous Seems related to "nerdview" a la 99% Invisible. The designer could be tempted to encapsulate because that would reflect some underlying organization in the code (the expert implementation). But the user always sees a seamless whole. That's what should be designed for

@sciliz @aanvigneron @PopulismUpdates Relatedly: I would support outlawing employer sponsored health insurance (worst case, they have to pay you enough that you can buy open market insurance plans; best case, public option)
