@paulg It seems the determining factor is wealth (singapore, Dubai). People will happily move to and live under a dictatorship if it means they have more money. I suspect most immigration to America is economically motivated and that the freedom part is over indexed in most peoples mind

@paulg I notice a similar pattern in business biographies, if you fell out with a fellow executive it goes in the book, if you had a good relationship it’s skated over or not mentioned. I’d have thought good relationships build businesses more often than bad ones detract from them.

Every test I did at school was like this: 1. Short (3 hours or less) 2. Solo (no collaborating) 3. Answers need be known in advance Every test at work was like this: 1. Long 2. More collaboration the better 3. Answers emerge along the way.

@paulg There are some scenarios when being popular is more important than being right. Also “read the room” can be advice on *how* to deliver a message not *whether* to deliver a message. The skill is to know in which scenario youre in and adjust your message accordingly.

I do. Me and my late father watching Wales become the smallest country ever to make the semis of a major football tournament against the highest ranked team in the tournament in the their own back yard. I will never forget it. It was the best night of my life.

@mbateman Totally agree. One tangential point is that they’re monumentally underrepresented in public discourse. They had no voice during Covid (and I’d argue suffered the most) and they have no voice wrt things like childcare yet are the ones most affected by it.

The one thing I want to see preserved for evermore after Covid-19 is over is prioritised store opening hours for the old and vulnerable. That makes good sense at any point in the past century. Please @BorisJohnson can we mandate this forever. A positive legacy of a tough time.

This is my dog Wyn. He is unlike any dog I have know before and it can be described in one sentence. He is the most dog-like dog of all time. At every point where his behaviour could be that of a dog or more like (say) a human he will behave like a dog with no exceptions.
