@1stontwit Realism isn't really the problem but more so how it's used. The landscape is boring and mainly flat, lacking core components that make part of the Sonic world like loops and slopes. The visual storytelling is bland and it's overall the same boring vistas with repeating textures.

- Loading screens throw you in a white room with an obstacle/enemy in front of Sonic, giving you small move challenges and combos to perform. Performing said actions grants you points and he learned a lot of moves from it that the game didn't had explained yet.

... and it's up to you to figure things out. He references BotW, as this is done through a big text on screen just saying "Save your friends" similarly to how BotW has the "defeat Ganon" at the start of the game. - The game world looks empty but there's a lot of stuff happening..

- Not soon as you start walking, you have your first encounters and the enemies look alien and sort of like the angels from Evangelion. - The realistic scenario, cartoony Sonic and the enemies who dont make sound or express emotion, makes it feel like an expressionist painting...

Sonic Adventure 3 already exists, it only depends on your POV: - if gameplay is king and all it needs is to play similar to those games then SA3 is 06. - if it's all about continuing with the story then SA3 is Heroes and SA4 is ShTH. Prove me wrong. Protip: you can't.

- He mentions he thinks the cy-loop is pretty fun, since it requires movement and precision while the enemies are constantly trying to attack you, making it challenging, even with smaller and less threatening enemies. - Combat is bizarrely complex and so is the movement.

- Game has RPG elements such as a skill tree. He mentions a stomp being in the skill tree although, I'm not sure if he's referring to Sonic's regular stomp or a combat stomp. - There's a move called "Sonic Boom" which is like a kick that throws projectiles at the enemies.

- "Spin Slash" which is a sequence of rotating cuts. - "Loop Kick" which is a powerful divekick (guessing the one we've seen used a lot in the IGN combat video) - "Homing Shot" which is a sequence of energy blasts (Probably the one from the combat video).

He says there's something special in there, almost to the point he suspects they did they same thing as the Sonic Movie did, showing something horrible at first so everyone can fall in love with after our guard's down. But that's a "maybe", and we have to wait and see.

A small thread on Game Design (1/?): While we took a few ideas from other titles as well, Project Rascal is, in it's core, a Sonic-inspired game and as such, it follow a lot of the same principles: physics-based gameplay, abundance of stage gimmicks, etc...

I'll admit, when I saw videos of @ProjectRascal , I was worried it might have been too fast of a game to be accessible. But finally running through last year's demo level a couple of times as a newbie, this is comfy.

That the game, despite its glaring issues, still has a chance of being "good". That it is definetely the most ambitious game in the franchise. That there's still some time left until release for them to polish some of these issues. And that he really hopes that they do it...

It looked like a tutorial stage, the CG trailer was set on a burnin' city, we knew the story was about Eggman conquering the world, so it was like "oh shit, it's just right after Eggman starts his attack". @LapperDev Tan arms look off in Movie and Boom Sonic because of the shoulders. Makes it look like he's wearing a tank top. It's also the reason why Prime's Sonic looks a bit off in that area. Tan arms work best when they look disconnected from the body, like with Modern Sonic or Classic.

This mad lad had the audacity to make Tails wear blue shoes and that's awesome! 1/5 Orange and blue are complimentary colors. Tails with red shoes is comparable to giving Sonic blue shoes. He may look fine, but he'll look way less interesting that way.

He suffered a ton with the camera, there was a moment he got stuck inside the boss in an aerial attack animation and that after a while he was able to go through the boss' geometry and attack it. But that despite all these negatives, he had a good time.

Continuing: He gives the example of when making a cy-loop, if you so much as touch the right analog stick, the camera flies over in another direction making you lose the circle. But despite those technical issues, both combat and exploration are weirdly satisfying...

The stage was meant to look dusty, "western-y", with rough surfaces. Look at the metal trims and how they're filled with rust, or how the grain on the wood looks dirty. Not like you just polished the living room before playing with your trainset.
