This game's intro is easily the best example of why smoother doesn't always mean better. Every action is overly emphasized with all the excessive frames, making the whole thing feel sluggish. Ironically enough, the intro would've been much better with less frames.

Even worse idea in mind. Creepypasta about a demon in your game, but instead of scaring you, it constantly gaslights you. It creates apparitions of Sonic in Melee and such, but it's never there when you show it to someone, and everyone just thinks you're crazy.

And not every old pixel art game took CRT blending into account. Hell, most of them didn't. Many of them don't benefit from CRT blending at all. It wasn't exactly "the norm". Playing Megaman on a CRT didn't make me remember Megaman differently than on a LCD screen.

Back in the mid 2000's, we got our Sonic 3 sprites from a Sonic sprites site called Mystical Forest Zone. The main sprite sheet came bundled with these edits of Sonic being wacky.
Sprite comic authors got a lot of mileage out of these.

Which is also further made up non-sense. Both GBA and SP have the same screen technology. The latter just had a backlight.
