in 2000 (retired). Got my Mario fangame on TV with 1m+ downloads. Been streaming before Twitch existed. Writes a lot. Explore my Linktree!
By the way, since everybody else is doing it, if you're planning on leaving Twitter, I can also be found at:

Haha, what the heck. Thanks to the Super Mario 64 code disassembly it's been discovered that the smoke Mario emits when he's touched fire has been bugged for 20 years. On the left: how it looks in the final game. On the right: after a one-line code fix.
Note that it’s CEOs buckling one by one & pushing AI- bc they’ve invested in the bubble and like all pump n dump schemes it requires them to shill for it in order win big
If it was the useful tool they claim, you’d see an enormous groundswell of actual creatives & storytellers
I am in love with this model replacement mod for FF7 Classic on PC. This is the direction I kind of wish the remake went in -- honoring the anime art style more instead of going photo-real.
I brought it up recently, but: the original voice actor for Silver the Hedgehog in Sonic 06 once listed a project called "Sonic the Hedgehog: Awakening" in his portfolio and that's the only thing anyone has ever heard about that. To this day we don't know what it was.
To this day I do not understand the appeal of putting Sonic's mouth on the side of his face. It's a funny thing in 2D artwork but it looks awful when you see his face head on. Everyone, even people at Sega, seem to understand this, but not Sonic Team.
I may not be very clear on all the details but it sounds like this was a very troubled project. You can be upset at what ended up on store shelves, but saying "Sega made it bad ON PURPOSE" is ignorant and disrespectful.
So it turns out that by looking at the code of Sonic Colours Ultimate, there is data suggesting that Metal Sonic was going to be playable, as many fans expected, but was cut
Once again, Sega have made a baffling decision that worsens their game :’)
I had no idea Sonic had a weird ice slipping animation in Ice Cap in Sonic Adventure until just a couple years ago. You never really have any reason to see it. And now every time I play the level, I gotta do it
So this is a quote from a discord involving people that are pulling apart the data inside the Genesis Mini. Apparently, Mega Man: The Wily Wars is a proper US ROM, separate from the JP/UK versions, and is very likely the version published on Sega Channel back in the day.
@ellameno
Considering the animation studio handling movie Sonic's CG was established in 2008 doing the cinematics for Sonic Unleashed? Probably *constantly*.
Controversial statement: it's kind of a bummer how little fangames there are here? Everybody wants to be the next Pizza Tower, or Freedom Planet, or Spark the Electric Jester, and like, that's cool, genuinely, but in chasing fame and fortune everybody forgot why fangames are cool
I'll save you a click:
Sonic fans got heated because the dev team behind a fangame also run a Patreon on the side. A "fight" broke out (it's technically not a patreon *for* the fangame). Then "sonic was never good" trolls dogpiled in and stirred up trouble

Weird! Somebody created SNES homebrew that remakes Super Mario Land using New Super Mario Bros. graphics, and they even pre-rendered new sprites for things not in NSMB. Controls are a bit weird, though, but then so were Super Mario Land's.
I dunno if these got leaked or what, but I'm skimming some of the pencils from unreleased Archie Sonic issues and... huh, Knuckles did the thing we saw in the Sonic 2 movie trailer.
As the founder of SAGE let me remind you that there was a time where fangames were in a much darker, more primitive place. They were more widely associated with actual piracy. I started SAGE to prove they were no more harmful than fanart, fanfiction, or fan music. Never back down
there's been debate over the years about how much articles from press harm under-the-radar fan projects based on popular series. according to pokemon's former chief lawyer, who
@LukePlunkett
interviewed, the answer is: a lot
@Akfamilyhome
There's already a hack that greatly improves the game's performance. I guess Nintendo broke the compression algorithm in this game and never fixed it so a lot of it is running slower than it should be.
It's pretty funny that all they did to de-green-hill this location was invert the hue values. If you invert them back, it's the same shades of brown they've been using for GHZ
Other things:
An old, partial build of Sonic Generations ("Sonic Anniversary") for the PSP has been found, but it was too damaged to recover most of the data. The bits of data we have suggest the PSP version became the basis for Generations on 3DS. (cont)
As I continue to rescue pictures from my old Photobucket, it looks like I archived the entire Sonic Unleashed leak from March of 2008. The lack of detail is actually really surprising. Looks almost like the Wii game. Probably just unfinished.
Do not trust anyone telling you to vote for Mephiles in this Sonic Channel art poll. This is the only time they've ever officially acknowledged Sonic Man in 17 years. He's earned the spotlight.
As I watch Sonic Prime, I'm starting to realize how weird it is that people in and around the Sonic franchise very clearly still want the SatAM/Archie "freedom fighter resistance" theming but don't want to (or can't) touch the actual characters or franchise.
I think I've mentioned this before, but at the time this game broke the community. It was a paradigm shift, because it was the first time a fan game felt somewhat like the official Sega games. Looking at it now, it looks terribly janky and unplayable, but things used to be worse!
The first mistake was hiring someone who apparently doesn't like the way Sonic looks and thought making him more realistic would somehow fix it instead of making it worse.

Sonic CD v0.02 is more complete than I was expecting. Interesting fact: Palmtree Panic was apparently originally called "Salad Plain"? I wonder if the rest of the stages were food puns, too.
"Sonic Anniversary" was apparently supposed to release on 360, PS3, Wii, PSP and DS. The game was originally just Modern Sonic revisiting classic levels, but it's been rumored that it was delayed over a year to add in Classic Sonic. (cont)
This has definitely cracked the top five of my most popular tweets by now. I'm going to bed soon, but I figure just as one last punctuation mark, I'll repost what I just wrote on Cohost about this, since people apparently missed my other QRT.
The problem is you bring this up and it invariably brings some smug clown out of the woodwork that is like "HIS EYES ARE FREAKY AND/OR DON'T MAKE ANY SENSE EITHER" and my guy that is not my complaint here. One step at a time
@SlaveOfSuzumiya
I think the proposed solution of just letting Sonic's mouth move around more so it's always facing the camera works okay. They just hate letting it be centered for any reason. Even though I think it looks fine.
(I have my own theory that "Sonic Anniversary" on the Wii and DS became Sonic Colors. It's particularly obvious with the DS version, which has Sonic restoring areas and meeting every side character that later appears in Generations)
Well I'll be. This "SA2 Input" mod actually improves a lot about SA2HD's grind rail controls, if not outright fixes them to match the Dreamcast version (more research is needed on that front). I get to cut/rewrite a huge section from my newest SA2 video now.

Fun fact: these are all real twitter accounts of the animation staff. The names were changed, but the avatars weren't. For example.
They absolutely knew what they were doing!
Finally trying out the Sunset Heights mod for Sonic Generations, and this is pretty impressive. Puts in to surprising relief just how bad the physics in Forces feel. This is almost a good level -- almost. The back half when it turns 2D is still fiddly and it's way too short.
I remember how many, many, many years it's been with Sonic fans trying to contact these people to uncover information like this, and how many dead ends it lead to. We'd heard of levels like this, but only described. It seems small, but it's wild to finally see it. Historic.
I posted this on Tumblr but there is reasonably minor visual differences between Sonic X Shadow Generations and the original game. Seems like they're using a very slightly different Classic Sonic model?
Aw man today is The Biolizard's birthday. And it's a Friday. If I was just a little more on the ball it would have been a great day to release a Sonic Adventure 2 video.
Seeing a lot of "omg Sonic Frontiers looks so much better here, the Switch ruined it"
Do people forget that graphics menus exist? If Sega wanted these effects to stay, they could have only enabled them on high end machines. They removed them for a reason and it wasn't the Switch

Finally trying Chengi's NeoSonic mod for SRB2. Gosh! This is really fun! Could become my preferred way to play Sonic in SRB2! If only I could get it to save my progress...
wow the ill conceived blazing saddles for kids with dogs and cats instead of black people and white people movie that has been in production for a decade and was supposed to release 5 years ago is actually coming out this week
With the effects dialed in through Dolphin Ishiiruka, Sonic Colors really does look almost as good as Sonic Generations. Strong art direction goes a long way.
Forget people talking about

filings with the FCC for dead relatives, here's a Net Neutrality filing in my name, from my old home address, that I most DEFINITELY did not write. I hadn't lived in Colorado for a month and a half when this was filed. Shenanigans!
