Wore a dashiki to the staff meeting where the Board president gaslit me and my peers for standing up to my emotionally immature and racist /ageist boss. She asked for our word for next year.
I said “DECOLONIZATION”. There was dead silence. ✊🏾

If a friend or random AA woman tells me they're dating a Nigerian... I wish them luck. Wouldn't even recommend any of my brothers who were raised here. Nope. Skip that.
I can’t put my heart and soul into what I do and regulate my adhd and anxiety and have work in a trauma informed capacity with no training while getting triggered and bullied by nice white women and pay my bills.
I’ll always be too much.

I was babysitting my friends kids.
5 yr old asks if this studio apartment is my whole house. He walking around saying my house is so tiny. And asking where the rest was...
He came out of the bathroom, looked me up and down & said (w. disgust): "Why you so skinny?!"
@ttarahaynes
Struggling with loving myself for my mental and physical health and these racist and bullying workplaces are literally beating me down. And the only reason I’ve tolerated the deterioration of my health is because I need health insurance and stability.
@ambernoelle
I'm Nigerian so I had the opposite. I was told to gain weight and eat more. But don't worry... My white women friends in college eventually drew me into their generational curse of low-carb/salad-eating/calorie-counting/over-exercising fuckery.

Visit family in FEB/MAR (worst time for CLE winter). Heated cabin for a weekend in November. Broths and soups. Mani-pedi every 2 months. Yoga in person (3x/month). Gym (5x/month). Cute sweaters. Protective hairstyle. Therapy 2x/month. Homemade bread. Play records in morning.

The youths are ruthless. And I'm too corny to be a teacher. Love education. Love kids. But teaching kids?! You gotta be tough as hell.
Motorboat me once shame on you... (Sad but true. He was 8. I'm 5 feet tall. They were eye level...)

Unless SHE was also a part of the prank: it isn’t a prank.
It don’t look like she knew about it. She just don’t want her man to end up with charges.
Black celebs with eating disorders are framing it as getting their body right/tight. Especially after having kids or being over 35. Its starvation and obsession. 😥 Lemon water, ACV, and cayenne pepper to lose weight isnt a healthy approach to life or your body.

Nigga. Why have I been searching “monsters at night” and was like “from what?!” Lol these shows need obvious ass names again lol
Idk if I'll get fired or be forced to resign but I just emailed my boss, HR, the Executive Team, and some black Board Members at my job.
This version is less emotional. I changed the email subject from
"I Am Not Your Negro" to
"Stop Playing At Diversity & Inclusion".

Yes. I was motorboated in the children's department at the East Cleveland Public Library by a child. I was there to help tutor as part of my work-study job at CWRU. Kid just went right up to me, did the thing, and walked away... I have not recovered.

One of the best things I did was stop following Christian social media influencers. They're scammers for Christ. That's it. Just righteous scammers.

I wasistening to songs from Grease the other day and I realize it would've been on HOT BLUE FIRE if black people sang and danced in it. And now I want to know what a fully black cast would've been like!

Always. I had to ask my bf to escort me to the bathrooms at Findley State Park. It was like they saw a neon kangaroo. Being stared at by white folks around a fire at night, while in the woods is not fun. 🙃😐

A man who worked for a cleaning service at the Naples Zoo in Florida was seriously injured Wednesday when a tiger bit his arm after he went into a restricted area and reached into the animal’s enclosure, the authorities said. The tiger was shot and killed.

YO. I have had multiple peoples dogs attack my dog and they just stood their like Boo-boo the mother fucking fool screaming for their dog to stop. No action. Usually no leash. & it’s usually a petite white woman with a rough and tumble dog that don’t respect her for shit.
@lucykhobbs
I 100% interviewed her. Because I know I have been through too many ain’t shit therapists (white women were most harmful but also black women aren’t the savior therapists you think they are if you have certain trauma/patterns).
No time for traumatization via therapy (yet again)
Background checks are kinda traumatizing if you've moved around a lot, been unhoused, lived in your car, crashed with friends, etc. over the last decade. Having one or two addresses in 7 years would be nice...
@Kyla_Lacey
Run and block. Scratch your cooter. Don't let them buy anything. But from what my Houston cousin tells me even if you're in a group don't girl gonna simp for him eventually. SMH.

I carried home a used crib left on the curb by a neighbor. I don't have kids. I was gonna donate it. 3 weeks of rain and ruin later... it was shipped & tacky AF. My man finally demanded I throw it out so we don't look like a trailer park. I never shared that on social media.

My mentor husband did/does this. My mom almost had a stroke watching Nicole sip wine as her hubby packed plates, swept, do dishes, and put the food away. Both work FT but Nicole plans, shops for the house, and cooks international cuisine 4x a week.

See things like this is why I may need to start carrying a small bottle of vinegar to spray in peoples faces when they doing too damn much.
@dorindadeadly
The need for a Cynthia in the group is DIRE! Everyone can’t be enemies and have big egos. You need someone to stir the pot softly, mediate, be a sister, mother, a FACE, and willing to fight if pushed to the edge.
@lucykhobbs
Learning to not only advocate for myself but to concisely and concretely present the areas I have trauma or am working on or identify with to a potential therapist HAS BEEN EVERYTHING. I had a 16 point list that then became 21 points after our initial appointment.
@Luvvie
As a Nigerian, I believe me having 1 for baking and another for the fridge (that I replace twice a year) is breaking generational curses. The fridge one becomes the additional tub/sink seasoning for cleaning once it has retired.
I really be wanting to give up and not take my meds or go outside but then will casually do THE MOST:
Made my own dog food, calculate the nutrients and caloric intake based on their weight and exercise, then make a written recipe with tips + substitutions.

In 2013, I interned at a global Fortune 500 company. My boss wanted us to get polo shirts with QR codes on the shoulders so that college students could scan us to learn more about job opportunities.
I fought for us then. And I’ll continue to fight for us now.
@theferocity
Also: staying in my job during winter no matter how I feel about it.
Trust me: anxiety and depression in a harsh winter does not usually improve by being unemployed. Especially if you live alone/don't have a village who can literally pick you up off the floor and care for you.
@UjuAnya
This was me as a child and my dad loved it. I was praised for it. Thought it was cute. Then I became a “woman” to him and realize he’s never been held accountable by any woman in his life. Now everyone tells me to unblock him because that’s just who he is.
Applying to jobs when you’re: depressed, burnt out, emotionally exhausted from white women, tired of being USED, unable to pay your bills or have any savings, looking for a new psychiatrist, w/o routine or community is so so fucking hard. 🥺🤕

The way mh sister being 7 months pregnant and married didn't stop men from letting her know they'd be a father to her unborn son... Women always have options. When a woman's fed up though... she'll always have options.

My parents were opposed to my bro marrying his wife because her parents and grandparents had been divorced. Meanwhile my parents have never hugged or kissed in front of us—and most of my life they’ve slept apart and worked opposite schedules. 🥴

I just mentioned this to my yoga teacher. I love when she tucks me in with a weighted blanket. I definitely LOVE being held. I just don’t feel comfortable being touched by most people. It takes a lot of trust and intimacy to allow myself to be held. I love it.
Lmao. Most of us don’t lose our sensory needs from childhood, we just find other ways to get it. If you like being wrapped as a burrito as a child. Snuggy,weighted blanket, the pressure of a adult partner, pressure of a pet….

I will say—one of the 3 BEST therapists I’ve had out of way too many was my one male therapist: Dr. Richard Pazol, Psy. D. (White Male) He on the east side of Cleveland. Former Director of Counseling at CWRU. If your insurance takes him—get ready to take notes.
