Congrats to Marlene & Verena for winning this year’s Art of Science - moving image category!! I am lucky to have played a small part in the production of these beautiful images. Still in awe of the single cell detail you can see with this workflow. I do miss imaging 💛🔬🧠
These vibrant hues show nerve bundles connecting distant brain regions and dopamine-producing nerve cells. @DrVerenaW and @marlenefschmidt are studying these cells to improve targeted therapies for Parkinson’s disease. Learn more in #ArtOfScience:

Huge congratulations to Leo and team @LazarouLab & collaborators for this beautiful story - now in pre-print. It was a pleasure seeing this work develop during my time @WEHI_research. Presynapses are mitophagy pit stops that prevent axon degeneration

Big congratulations to @AusSMC on such a wonderful project, with big impact - definitely deserved of recognition by the @auscicomm and the wider Aussie SciComm community. The project is a model for how we should be engaging with all stakeholders in the SciComm lifecycle.

And what a way to announce to the twitter-sphere (X-sphere) that I have left the 'lab'! Tomorrow is my first day in my new role with @In2science. I first volunteered with In2Science over a decade ago as an undergrad at Unimelb - and I am excited to be able to join the team. 2/2
Tahnee is starting a new role with In2Science, a not-for-profit that places university students in classrooms so that high school students can engage with STEM more #scienceiseverywhere #3RRRFM #science

I have wanted to go on @einstein_agogo since @DrShaneRRR ran the first #20phds20mins but the timing was never quite right. But today I got to talk to Shane, @ChrisKP2, and @NanoSusi of @SheliumScience about my love for mitochondria and their importance in Parkinson's Disease 1/2
Our last guest is Dr Tahnee Saunders (@tahneesaunders) who was a postdoctoral researcher within the Parkinson’s Disease Research Centre at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute and will be starting a new exciting role soon!

Absolutely gorgeous. I could look at mitos forever.
After countless requests, we're thrilled to introduce PK Mito Orange FX - a fixable variant of PKMO. PKMO FX allows immunolabeling and CLEM approaches. Happy to have contributed to this project led by @ZhixingChen2 and Christian Jüngst. #mitochondria

A beautiful take. This 100% aligns with my values. “Science may be the method I use, but people are the motivation for everything I do.” 💯
Reflecting on a week that was incredible (and sometimes incredibly hectic) in so many ways, and I keep coming back to the principle that: Science may be the method I use, but people are the motivation for everything I do.
