There’s a lot under the lens this week as hot, dry conditions drive silverleaf whitefly and two-spotted mite populations.

Cotton is coming home 🌱🌼 Following recent cutout app of RX-380, white flower positions are coming up our crops, indicating a successful cutout. Throughout this period it is critical to meet water timings to minimise shedding and maximise the boll load. Carrathool NSW

Utilising drones to spray small plot trials as irrigation intervals shorten and ground access becomes more restricted. Thanks GM AgSpray

Not sure how this little worker expects to take off this covered in pollen. Great to see our system supports bee activity. 🐝

@BL_agri @nairnzy @ajackag13 @robbert115 Only anecdotal were we couldn’t get Boxer Gold, appeared to do a reasonable job, the muck around vs cost saving not sure it’s worth it. Would be good to see side by side.

@Nel_farms @agrobaz Plenty of people still do it. Even a few who say they don’t. Or just guys pushing the boundaries on how early they start or late they go.

@agrobaz I think it’s moving a from further afield then local growers following water courses until it hits a temp change and settles. Macquarie southern valleys all effected so coming from miles away.

Sunflowers at petal drop post flowering. Grains are now filling. The main pest species to monitor for is Rutherglen bugs that cause damage to the developing grain. 🌻

Monitoring nodes above the 1st position white flower (NAWF) is critical in the lead up to cutout for balancing growth. Our aim is to manage the crop for the last effective flower date for the given region so that the crop can be flowering for as long as possible.
