@Bitter_Grizzly @EdgarONealWX @ReedTimmerUSA @erikfox2000 @chaser_summit @theScantman @JordanHallWX @StormCat5_ It only favors the TV stations (and some colleges) and was introduced by them to get a leg up. As it’s written, they can close roads as an emergency vehicle and no other media chasers (radio, storm spotters, popular streaming, etc) are allowed past. No training required!

Good News! And shows the importance of reaching your Oklahoma Senator/Representative!
My State Senator really responded quickly to the letter I wrote him yesterday regarding the storm chasing bill. Glad to hear he is against it, and it seems like there are a good amount of people opposing this bill. Continue to reach out to your representatives! Make your voice heard!

Great template!
This is the email I just sent my local representative here in Oklahoma. I wanted to share this if anyone is interested in doing the same. It’s very important to use your voice on issues that can have an effect on your life! I’m not interested in debating any of this, because it is already sent. But if you feel differently than I please let your representative know! Dear Representative Kelly, My name is Edgar O’Neal, and I am a constituent in your district. I am writing to express my concerns regarding House Bill 2426, the proposed bill introducing a Storm Chaser license. As a professional storm chaser with eleven years of experience, including five years full-time, I work alongside Reed Timmer and am part of Team Dominator, known for our distinctive, tank-like vehicle, the Dominator 3. We cover severe weather across the United States, with a particular focus on Oklahoma, live-streaming to thousands of viewers on platforms like YouTube and Facebook. I understand that House Bill 2426 is a relatively new bill, but I am concerned about its potential impact. Specifically, the bill appears to grant licensing authority exclusively to television media outlets, potentially granting them preferential access to storm-affected areas. I believe this presents several problematic issues. First, the bill defines "storm tracker" as someone chasing for a TV station with an FCC broadcasting license. This appears to exclude not only individuals like myself who utilize online streaming platforms, but also other forms of media such as radio and print journalists. This raises potential First Amendment concerns, as it restricts access for those who provide severe weather coverage to audiences who no longer rely solely on traditional television broadcasts. The exclusive control granted to media outlets also appears inequitable. Second, the bill grants significant authority to local television storm trackers, including the ability to use emergency lighting almost operating as safety officers. I am concerned that these individuals may not possess the necessary training to assume such responsibilities. Furthermore, the track record of some of these chasers raises questions about their suitability for these expanded powers. While I acknowledge the need for improved coordination and training between law enforcement and storm chasers, I believe SB#158, in its current form, is not the appropriate solution. My initial assessment is that this bill introduces unnecessary government regulation. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to discuss my concerns with you in more detail. Unless the bill's language has been significantly amended, I intend to oppose it and advocate for alternative solutions. Thank you for your time and consideration. Please feel free to contact me at your convenience to discuss this matter further. Sincerely, Edgar O’Neal @stormfrontfreak @StormCat5_ @ReedTimmerUSA @erikfox2000 @DanielShawAU @JordanHallWX
