The Taoiseach and Tanaiste have clearly been read the riot act the last few weeks.
Tánaiste said Ireland must take its security 'more seriously' to support EU partners. With a trip to the Munich security conference and the White House on the horizon, @MichealMartinTD and @SimonHarrisTD are making all the right noises. Action is required

If you have a powerful enough lobbying team to bypass the regulator and just get your preferred sub-par regulations for your area of critical infrastructure passed then why would you care what a regulator says? Politicians are to blame for this mess, as is the ESB.
The Commission for the Regulation of Utilities warned @ESBNetworks that the number of power outages its customers suffered was unacceptable, before #StormDarragh & #StormEowyn caused even greater chaos for electricity supply.

I think the default in Ireland is that voters are always misled; by anyone with anything to do with housing.
