In the era of so many digital summaries, I think long form print still has a place too. Here’s an article that my daughter, @kristnmerrilees, just wrote which traces the history of print at Columbia University and Barnard College:

The fact that people are speculating that there might be an announcement about Apple Pencil interfacing with the @Apple Vision Pro illustrates an important fact: it's difficult to anticipate all that Apple might do with AVP given its resources, design and development teams and capacity for innovation. No one was talking about the Pencil as an input device for AVP three months ago that I recall. What else is Apple potentially working on for AVP that might similarly catch us off guard?

Leading edge vs bleeding. Innovation groups seem to be the ones who are most receptive to starting the pilot programs necessary to spread the word within a business or organization, secure funding, and socialize the idea of productivity from 3D apps, ie Spatial Computing. Apple will make this all easier as time goes on of course but for now efforts are best spent on those who already understand the 3D world but just want “more” than what Meta can provide.

To your point, @apple isn’t going to leave AVP out on some island. Agreed that WWDC will bring it even more into the fold.

A good example of what I've been saying ... that Apple Vision Pro apps which take advantage of 3D will ultimately drive its success and adoption. Note that here you can see where the car is on the track itself in three dimensions. Way more powerful than just two.
I love seeing the impact Apple Vision Pro is having on so many industries! Check out how Porsche is using spatial computing to change the track experience.

@_LucasRizzotto I’ve been thinking about that too. My sense is that Apple may have thought that 3D UI would be too hard to get adoption around out of the gate. So I agree with the “consistency across the ecosystem” theory — I just think (hope?) it will be shorter term perhaps.

@thisismichaeld I think they are really impressive. A feeling of “presence” is difficult to achieve, but I feel they have already met the at bar. I was surprised when they improved so much with the OS updates. I had not anticipated that. What’s your take?

@Scobleizer @SuEvison @stevewoz There’s a book by Steven Johnson called “How We Got to Now” —- it looks at the things we take for granted in our modern lives (e.g. refrigeration) and traces the origin story of each. You’re reminding us we need to think that way about our careers and lives too.

@jetscott @OwlchemyLabs Scott ... I'm not a gamer so can't comment on the tracking for such, but I do think that editing text on AVP needs improvement -- and presumably it needs to be through hand/eye tracking. I use siri in AVP, and sometimes feel like starting over is faster than fixing mistakes.
