Just to underscore how wild this is. The first commit to Jakt was on the 5th of May of this year, only 2 and 1/2 months ago.
In that time, we've designed a full language, built the compiler/transpiler in Rust, rewrote it in Jakt, then compiled Jakt with itself.
The self-hosted Jakt compiler now builds itself, and passes all of our unit tests! 🥳
This ends our "let's get it self-hosting" feature freeze, and we can get back to work on improving the language 🤓

Just after I left in 2015, one of my colleagues reached out to me and said "they've changed the default". It was no longer "why should this developer tool be OSS?" It was "why *shouldn't* it be?" Microsoft was embracing open source more broadly and deeply with each month.
