It clicked this morning that `else if` in C/C++ is a lie. It's just `else` followed by a one-line implied block. Which means you could also make `else while` and others. 😅

Just to underscore how wild this is. The first commit to Jakt was on the 5th of May of this year, only 2 and 1/2 months ago. In that time, we've designed a full language, built the compiler/transpiler in Rust, rewrote it in Jakt, then compiled Jakt with itself.

The Microsoft of today is even further along that path. You can see it in the GitHub stats, in how many tools are open source, in the way the C# team does design in the open, etc. You hear that it's hard for bigco's to change, but it's impressive to me how fast things changed.

@awesomekling I don't really use debuggers. 99.99% of the time I'm printing things to the screen and trying to figure it out, even when a debugger would be much faster. Never really managed to break myself of that habit.

For @rustlang folks - I'm curious who has gone through a similar experience with Clippy. My journey was something like: Step #1 : Do I really need this thing? Step #2 : Oh, oh hey that's kinda helpful. Step #3 : Clippy, I'm probably doing something bad, please let me know. 😅

One way I've heard it is "assume your users are smart, but busy"

I wish a fundamental ethos in tech was that our users are smarter than us instead of the other way around.

Hi all, another programming language update from me. It's time to move on from Nushell, say goodbye to June, and look to the road ahead. Some more info here:

Hi all 👋, something I've been wanting to talk about for months is being #ActuallyAutistic . Six months ago I was diagnosed with ASD, and I've been wanting to say something pretty much ever since. So, I'm doing just that.

Wow, 40% of Rust developers now are using Rust at work. So awesome seeing steady growth there.

Oh nice, I haven't heard of `cargo asm` before. I'll definitely want to check this out when doing optimisation work in the future. #rustconf
