One unconditional love. In my own wee world of The Smiths, Camera Obscura, The Sound of Young Scotland, wojtek tb, Paleys, Pipettes, Terry Hall and Northern.

Une pluie torrentielle s'est abattue sur Saint-Étienne. Titi Camara a ouvert la marque pour les Verts. On est en fin de match et Caen pousse pour égaliser.

Day of real mixed emotions for me. It’s my final day with my employer of nearly twenty five years. Looking forward to a career break, being of a boy of leisure, only one phone, loads of books, music and deciding what path I follow next. Exciting!
Sat in Reggio Di Calabria, crying the best tears I’ve ever cried. I’ve just received a call from home to tell me that, thanks to the care, attention and proactivity from the teams at The Glasgow Royal, my dad is going to be ok. We’ve just received the all clear. I’m so happy.

Perfect indie pop tune from Glasgow's Camera Obscura 'Lloyd. I'm ready to be Heartbroken' taken from the 2006 album 'Let's Get Out of This Country' a fitting tribute to Lloyd Cole. Makes you want to get a wee dance in tonight

‘Last’ night in Glasgow for me, tonight. How weird does that sound? I’m going to miss it, but feel absolutely privileged to have witnessed the city during this period in its history...
It’s Christmas 1987, and the recently turned fifteen year old me receives these albums as gifts:
‘High Land, Hard Rain’
‘Rattlesnakes’
‘You Can’t Hide…’
‘Pacific Street’
And this..
Thankfully, my life would never, ever be the same again.
STRANGEWAYS, HERE WE COME
The Smiths
Released 28.09.1987
Girlfriend in a Coma, Stop Me If You Think, Last Night I Dreamt, I Started Something and more.
Truly a brilliant album but which are your standout tracks?

Awake ludicrously early for a Saturday.
The antidote?
Watch the Microdisney BBC documentary (how and why have I managed to let them slip by?!) and this.
Opened this in the office and I’m not sure what caused me to laugh like a drain more: McLaughlin’s utterly preposterous description of Mussolini or the razor sharp replies. Read the thread, you won’t be disappointed..
Celtic charged by UEFA for ‘illicit chants’ and an ‘illicit banner.’ Relates to Europa League match via Lazio where some fans displayed banner of former Italian wartime leader, Benito Mussolini hanging upside down. Lazio also charged for fan chanting.
‘One that got away’??!!! Pffft!!
Only if you don’t know where to look, surely??
The album is one of the most magical, ever…
Anyway, here’s my ‘reissue, repackage’ still ‘Trapped and Wrapped’; my 1989 original CD is stashed.
If you know, you know. No?
Rome,1983. Me and my mate Martin in Italy for the first time and I’ve been in love with the country ever since!

Mr Softy Top delivers one of my favourite lines ever heard…
‘I can’t make ninety-nines with fucking Crunchies, can I???!’
Legendary.
A thing of unadulterated beauty, all from the first long player that was ever purchased by the hard won and fairly earned pocket money of your scribe.
I will never, ever tire of the £5.99 exchanged at Virgin, Union Street, Glasgow.
Slick and smooth is the way to describe our very own Hipsway, here they are LIVE on FSD '86 with the classic 'Long White Car' ohh those were the days... Lets get Skin on a podcast episode, that would be lovely.. Enjoy a sophisticated evening you lovely people
@GramSkin
Paul Quinn & Edwin Collins, a wonderful cover version of The Velvet Undergrounds 'Pale Blue Eyes' written by Lou Reed(1969). I think this version was released 1984? Maybe some of you can clear this up? Punk Rock Hotel? Mrs Beddington's Box?

I love this pic. As a wee boy, I remember those very green buses heading to strange, far off lands like Cardowan, Cranhill, Easterhouse, Garthamlock and Ruchazie.....
Ah! So many fond memories of one of my fave TV shows ever.
I often got to think and (still do today), thank goodness that they didn’t risk damaging a beautiful RS2000 or 3.0S in those scenes!

A Friday night belter! Glasgow's Love and Money with 'Strange Kind of Love' from the 1988 album of the same name. One of my favourites of all time (lyrics framed on my wall) and still going strong individually

Have a great weekend everyone.
First morning back under a Northern sky in 22 years and there’s your trademark rain.
Mixed emotions about leaving London, but dead excited about new beginnings up here.
Almost giddy. My very beautiful ZX7000 so newly released that they didn’t even make it out onto the sales floor before I got them. I may need find a wee spot in Shoreditch in which to lie down as a consequence.

Twenty years ago day since Seville and I think I can remember every minute.
Never felt a defeat like it, before or since, but I wouldn’t swap the experience for anything. Anything.
And I’m pretty sure that I’ve barely aged a day…

new song, its superb!
I’ve finally caught this and put it on, but I’m trying to get ready. I move around flat, but I keep stopping and smiling. I look at my watch. As a result, I’m now chasing the Northern Line and Camden and the 1200 ko. It’s worth every second of the twenty eight minutes. Fabulous.

Been in London for twenty years but hadn’t been down here (St Pancras Lock) for ages - it’s changed beyond all recognition too. I think it’s just gorgeous…
On a bus in Glasgow, I hear feet pounding upstairs, accompanied by ‘..fuck the Pope and Vatican’.
Shortly after, an obese wee lassie stumbles downstairs, Union Jack flag draped round her ample shoulders, and announces to us that: ‘we (they) arra people’.
People make Glasgow.

and am reminded of the first time that I saw them…
Think I’d just turned sixteen and this was my first gig..
And Love and Money were just mesmeric that night.
Was driving to Glasgow tonight and as the M6 was closed, I got diverted through the village of Shap.
There was just myself, the foreboding winds and rain of the Cumbrian countryside and this.
Somehow, it felt appropriate.
A record which occupies an immovable place in my all time top five. So, for essentials, it must, must be ‘Rattlesnakes’ and ‘Perfect Skin’ and ‘Are You Ready…?’
A monday night dose of the Blue Nile, I've just fininshed the wonderful 'Nileism' book, what a delight! So, tonight we have TBN with 'Saturday Night' live at 'The Electric Picnic' 2006
@BlueNileMusic
Been buried in stuff in the last few days, but how mesmerising is this?
Found myself lost in a world of listening intently to the music whilst simultaneously trying to identify the locations. The old place doesn’t look bad..

Wee bit late to the party, but I’ve got good gear in my Haddow’s bag…
