You’re creating a false choice where there doesn’t have to be one. If there were enough housing newcomers could be welcomed and residents wouldn’t have to leave. The fact that your policies artificially force this choice is why you’re not a good leader.

I think this is an important point. I would bike more if I weren't always so terrified, and I've come to the conclusion that drivers are increasingly using violence or the *threat* of violence to maintain their privilege on streets, which they perceive (rightly) as threatened.
