Such devastating news, for Sue, his family, @CincyKidsPCCM for @CincyChildrens @CincyPedNeph. I interviewed with him 12 yr ago to join CCHMC. He was true to his word that a nephrologist could research AKI and train fellows in the ICU. It was a privilege to work with him.
Incredibly sad news. We lost a #PedsICU giant yesterday. Hector Wong, MD passed away unexpectedly. He was division head at Cincinnati for over 20 years before stepping up to interim chair. He leaves a massive legacy of sepsis research and trainees spread around the world.

I was in a similar position last year. Contact the session chairs and state that can provide 4 outstanding women to take your place (bc I'm sure they exist). If the chairs refuse to take you up on the offer, then decline to serve. Things wont change any other way. My 2 cents.
I just realized the panel I am slated to speak on later this week is 100% men. I made a private (until this tweet) pledge not to participate in such panels. How should I proceed from here? Suggest an addition? Suggest a replacement (for me)? Back out? All ideas welcome.
