Saw Oppenheimer last night in one of the worst behaved crowds I've ever been in, multiple camera flashes throughout, people in front of us scrolling TikTok half way thru the film ... If you don't have the attention span for a 3 hour movie don't leave the house to attend one
This reminds me of when I got in an argument with a man about why there weren't more pink/purple cars despite the fact many would drive them given the option, I was like it's gotta be sexism but he insisted it must be due to the qualities of the paint itself
This kinda breaks down some of the different ways it can manifest,

and 5 were something I experienced so much since childhood it was hard to notice anything was "wrong"
yeah this makes sense coming from the company that put out thirteen reasons why, which was directly associated with a 28% rise in teen suicides the month following its premiere
Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos is doubling down on his defense of Dave Chappelle following the mounting controversy around his latest comedy special: “We have a strong belief that content on screen doesn’t directly translate to real-world harm.”
Making it not cost effective enough ... did finally get through once I pointed out I didn't think someone *literally* rejected the idea bc sexism but more the idea that most wouldn't want a pink or purple car bc its effeminate, tho not before arguing particulars of paint physics
The fever pitch of all the "men are terrible" discourse leaves ppl (and like lesbians especially) completely unprepared for the reality of abusive women
@MarvinDeux
I genuinely had to stay my hand from being like "It's too late, this is Satan, I've taken control of her body and soul, she's committing heinous acts of heresy as we speak" lol
The scene in The Hunger Games where Peeta says Katniss is pregnant and the audience is outraged and demands the Games be stopped is such a perfect encapsulation of the so-called 'pro-life' movement, coz they were all perfectly fine with kids dying until a foetus was involved.
Being with people who've clearly never had like a chill sexual encounter where you can let your guard down and laugh when its awkward or whatever is such a weird thing and would always make me kinda sad
@babadookspinoza
This is so accurate. Kids are born deeply uncomfortable with inequity and spontaneously share when they're given unequal portions, and it's trained out of them as they learn abt (often artificial) scarcity
@MitchyDelta
He's been this way since Tea Party bullshit but it's only gotten worse as times gone on, we cannot have a single conversation without it becoming this. Sort of a laugh so you don't cry situation at this point. I really feel for you and I'm sorry you're in a similar place
@F4RN3RB0CK3N
SOH CAH TOA being a mnemonic to remember how to calculate sine cosine and tangent. Almost positive I had a teacher do this whole routine too
@offbeatorbit
kids at this age are such a pleasure to be around, precious little sponges who just mirror everything back to you (bc they're plugged in & trying to learn!) it warms my heart
